‘American Idol’ Contestant Arrested On Child P*rn Charges
An American Idol contestant has recently been arrested on charges of child pornography. During his arrest, police managed to uncover more than 700 images and videos in their possession. The former Idol contestant had previously become known thanks to an incident during his audition.
Hundreds Of Illicit Images & Videos Were Found On The Contestant’s Smartphone
A Facebook post from the Tulsa Police Department revealed that Benjamin Glaze had been arrested for allegedly possessing child porn. American Idol fans might remember Glaze as a contestant on the show.
The Sexual Predator/Digital Evidence Recovery Unit reportedly obtained information that Glaze was in possession of the illegal material. According to cops, after executing a warrant, they found over 700 images and videos of sexual abuse involving minors on Glaze’s smartphone.
Glaze had been arrested on this past Friday during the afternoon. After being booked into the Tulsa County Jail, he was later released on a $50K bond the following night.
The Facebook post gave Glaze’s full name as “Benjamin Issac Dewitt Glaze” and identified him as “a 26-year-old male who lives in Tulsa.” It was also noted that, “This is an arrest and not a conviction.”
During his brief appearance on American Idol, appearing in 2018, Glaze opened up by admitting, “I think when I see Katy Perry, there’s a slight chance that I might have this spike in my heart-rate. American Idol could really change a lot about my life.”
During His Audition, Glaze Received A Kiss From Judge Katy Perry
Saying that he works as a cashier, Glaze admitted he’d never been in a relationship to judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. Perry allowed Glaze to kiss her. Complaining that he didn’t even make the “smooch” sound, Perry surprised him by kissing him herself.
Glaze was then asked to sing, but seemed a little caught-off guard thanks to the kiss. As Lionel Richie noted, his “first kiss was Katy Perry.”
While playing on his guitar, Glaze performed the Nick Jonas song, “Levels.” Bryan told Glaze to hone his craft and “get a little better at singing.” Perry said that there were people “outsinging” him and noted he might have “rushed” through his performance.
Ultimately, in the end, all three judges, while reassuring, gave him a “no.” Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” played as he walked out of the room.
At the time, as noted by TMZ, many felt that Perry’s surprise kiss was inappropriate, especially when Glaze claimed it made him feel uncomfortable. However, Glaze himself later spoke out in Perry’s defense, denying claims that she assaulted him.
