‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Why Tammy Slaton Has To Wait For Big Surgery
The cast of 1000-Lb Sisters have been through many ups and downs on their individual weight loss journeys. Tammy Slaton was once the biggest of them all. But after losing 500 lbs, she’s more motivated than ever before to reach her goals.
Sadly, it seems like the TLC star will have to wait a bit longer. What’s causing the major delay?
Tammy Slaton Feels Ready For Skin Removal — But Is She Really?
More than anything, Tammy Slaton wants skin removal surgery. She’s admitted that she feels self-conscious about her loose skin — even thought she’s accomplished so much with her weight loss efforts so far.
Fans feel tremendously proud of Tammy, but they also want her to receive the skin removal surgery she wants.
“Did I understand correctly, the doctor wants Tammy to lose another 100 pounds and get down to 200 before she can have skin removal surgery??” one 1000-Lb Sisters viewer asked on Reddit. “I understand wanting her to lose more, but 200 seems extreme. She was over 700 pounds, she probably has at least 50 pounds of excess skin on her now. I feel bad for her, she must be so uncomfortable and it’s just going to get worse the more weight she loses.”

Other Redditors acknowledged how frustrating the situation has to be for Tammy. But on the other hand, they also know her medical team has her best interests at heart.
- “I have had skin removal surgery. They want you to lose as much as possible so they can remove as much skin as possible. That’s all.”
- “I agree that I don’t believe Tammy understands what a major surgery skin removal(s) is going to be for her. It’s going to be terribly painful plus she’ll have drains. … Fortunately, she’s young but she’s in for several years of surgeries. Bless her heart. She’s done a great job in her weight loss journey.”
- “She still is over 50% fat according to that test her and Chris did, so yes she still has a lot to lose. Plus I know we can’t tell for sure on tv, but she appears to be pretty short so she would need to get to a healthy weight for her height as well.”
- “You have to remember that Tammy is barely 5 feet tall. This is based on her being shorter than Amy and Amy’s height is documented in her mug shot as 5’3”
