Justin Glaze Exposes Truth About ‘Bachelor’ Background Checks
The Bachelor franchise has been under scrutiny about vetting contestants. Serious allegations were revealed about recent Bachelorette and Golden Bachelorette contestants. Justin Glaze, who appeared on two different shows, exposes the truth about the show’s background check process. Keep reading to find out if the show really vets contestants.
Bachelor Franchise Under Fire For Problematic Suitors
Reality TV shows like The Bachelor are supposed to be an escape from real life. But the recent season of The Bachelorette and the currently airing Golden Bachelorette were too close to home for some viewers. Devin Strader’s problematic behavior was brought up by Jenn Tran during theĀ After The Final Rose show. She revealed that he ghosted her for weeks during their short engagement and then broke up with her over the phone.
He later revealed naughty text messages from her to defend his behavior. Devin claimed the text leak was an accident. But a prior arrest and restraining order came to light shortly afterward. Fans wondered how these details were missed during the show’s vetting process.
Joan Vassos’ season of The Golden Bachelorette premiered shortly after Jenn Tran’s Bachelorette season ended. Surely none of Joan’s suitors have problematic pasts, viewers thought. Well, they were wrong. Not one, but TWO, Golden Bachelorette contestants had restraining orders filed against them in the past.
Does the show really do background checks?
Bachelor In Paradise Alum Justin Glaze Exposes Truth About Show’s Background Checks
Viewers first met Justin Glaze when he was a contestant on Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette. He was the runner-up and later appeared on Season 8 of Bachelor In Paradise. Justin eventually found love with Bachelor Nation alum Susie Evans, though they recently broke up.
They both attended a book release party but reportedly didn’t interact. Justin Glaze spoke to The U.S. Sun at the event. He was asked about his reaction to the restraining order revelations against recent contestants. He said the casting process was “pretty thorough,” so he was shocked that Devin Strader and The Golden Bachelorette contestants “slipped through the cracks.”
When asked how detailed the background checks are, he said he didn’t think he was allowed to reveal details. However, he assured the outlet that the background checks were “extensive.”
He Says ‘Predictable’ Format Is Another Problem
Elsewhere in the interview, Justin Glaze suggested that the show should “revamp” both the background checks and the format of the show completely.
“I think there’s a lot of copy and paste when it comes to some of the silly group dates and kind of the format of the show,” he said about the dating show.
Do you agree with Justin Glaze that the show needs a fresh format and deeper background checks? Sound off in the comments.

I think that the show needs a complete overhaul! The dates are ridiculous and some of the contestants are terrible. A lot of them go on the show just to be seen. The show isn’t respectable anymore.
