‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Amy Slaton Drops 175 Lbs, Surgery Next?
Like her siblings, 1000-Lb Sisters star Amy Slaton hopes to take the next step in her weight loss journey soon — skin removal. In a surprise turn of events, she learned she lost quite a bit of weight at her doctor’s appointment onscreen. Amy claimed getting a divorce and becoming a single mother helped her drop the pounds.
As the family learned in the episode, it’s too soon for them to receive skin removal surgery. But as long as they can keep up with positive habits, their doctor will sign off on it.
Can Amy Slaton achieve her goal?
Amy Slaton Feels Comfortable Stopping At 240 Lbs
This season on 1000-Lb Sisters, the family went to visit Dr. Smith together. As per usual, the sisters began bickering with one another. Upon learning that she’d lost a total of 175 lbs since her weight loss journey began, Amy seemingly decided she was fine with stopping at 240 lbs.
“You’ve been dead set for 150 and now you sitting over here talking about almost 240,” Amanda chastised her younger sister. “I don’t know why you think that’s good enough you still got 80 or 90 pounds to go I mean it’s laughable.”
Dr. Smith tells the family it’s too soon for them to receive skin removal surgery. However, he encourages them to keep working toward their goals. He assures them they’re making the right decision to keep themselves healthy so they can be around for their families.
The TLC Star Doesn’t Have Much Further To Reach Her Goals
Of course, this disappointed the siblings. Several of them thought they would get approved at the visit.
“Well how much do you think I need to lose?” Amy asked Dr. Smith.
“If you would lose another 30 pounds I think that would be tremendous. It may not completely get out of the morbid obesity category but get you dag on close,” he replied.
Amy wasn’t wild about the answer, but she remained hopeful.
“I was hoping he would say I could go ahead and get skin removal today. I don’t know how I feel about losing 30 more pounds because damn I already lost 175 if you just cut off my belly roll that’ll be a 30.” the TLC star shared in a confessional.
Of course, mental health may play a factor in whether or not Amy can receive the surgery. Her medical team wants her to be healthy and well both physically and mentally. Fans noticed she has been a bit out of sorts since her split from Michael Halterman.
