Britney Spears Burning Through $60M Fortune, Family Concerned
Britney Spears’ next paycheck may be put on hold. She is facing a certain financial crisis. Now, her highly-anticipated biopic The Woman In Me has been delayed. Her friends and family are becoming increasingly concerned about the pop star, but fans are telling her to get back to work. So, what’s going on with Britney? Keep reading to find out.
Progress Has Stalled On Britney Biopic
Universal has decided to press pause on the Britney Spears biopic The Woman In Me, based on the pop star’s memoir. Now, the release of the film will be sometime in 2025.
The news of the release being pushed back comes as many of the 42-year-old pop star‘s friends and family are concerned about her spending habits. She is swiftly burning through her $60 million fortune. Sources within the industry are offering up messages of caution to Britney, warning that the biopic isn’t on a “fast track.”
An insider told Radar Online, “She was looking at this as her saving grace, and now those hopes have been dashed.” Britney Spears reportedly had high hopes for the film, but the insider says that she might be waiting a while before the story makes it to theaters.
“The Britney biopic is not on a fast track and that is a reflection of the risks involved here, and nothing more,” the source said. “Sure, there’s a level of demand for the Britney movie that only increases every day that she stays away from the music business and live performing. People miss her, they miss the music.”
They continued, pointing out that biopic films are often a “coin flip.” The person said, “For every Freddie Mercury and Elton John slam dunk there are plenty of failures!” This is the reason progress has stalled on the film at this point.
Britney Spears’ Friends & Family Concerned About Spending
However, friends and family of the pop star are concerned about the way she is spending her money. She is constantly indulging in some kind of shopping spree and a source close to the situation pointed out that, “The money is going out but isn’t coming in!”
Britney Spears has made it clear that she doesn’t plan on returning to the music industry, which is how she’s made her fortune. She has not performed live in six years and, according to sources, she was looking to the biopic to pad her wallet.
On top of her insane spending, Britney is still on the hook for almost $1 million per year in child support payments until the end of this academic school year. That is when her son Jayden, 18, graduates high school.
Hearing about her financial struggles, many fans online have urged Britney Spears to get back to work.
One person penned, “She’s got something wrong with her. She needs some deep counseling. I don’t know if that would even help her.” Another commented, “She’s definitely not spending it on clothes.”
A third person added, “Let that girl go broke! Then she can go work retail.” Another simply stated, “Back to work Brittney.”
At this point in time, there is no release date for The Woman In Me biopic film. It is only known that Universal Pictures acquired the rights to adapt the memoir. Jon M. Chu (Wicked) will direct the film and Marc Platt (La La Land) will produce the movie.
