Dancing With The Stars execs invited KISS icon Gene Simmons to be a guest judge on Hair Metal Night. While contestants and viewers alike felt excited to welcome Simmons to the ballroom, he left a sour taste in many mouths.

After the episode concluded, viewers ignited the internet with words of criticism. Overall, DWTS fans thought Gene Simmons was completely bizarre behind the judges’ table.

So what exactly did the rock star have to say about his time on the show?

Gene Simmons Doubles Down On His Comments

Dancing With The Stars is supposed to be about ability and performance. As a guest judge, 75-year-old Gene Simmons boiled most of the routines down to sex appeal. He centered his comments around the female dancers’ beauty, which angered plenty of fans.

Simmons has heard the feedback and firmly decided that he didn’t care.

“I stand by every word I said,” the KISS musician told The Daily Mail, doubling down on his comments. “I had a great time. The contestants were great. The show was great. Watch the show. It was a lot of fun.”

As far as the criticism goes, Simmons couldn’t care less.

“Everybody’s got something to say,” he added. “Watch the show. It was a lot of fun. Everybody had a great time.”

During the episode, the performers seemed to take the comments in stride. But not everyone was happy with what he said.

DWTS Pro Brandon Armstrong Found The Comments Offputting

During Gene Simmons’ awkward comments, most of the performers stood uncomfortably and nodded along. Witney Carson made a face. But Brandon Armstrong spoke up after the episode ended.

Brandon and his celebrity Chandler Kinney performed the Jive to Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” As always, the scored very well with the judges. While the other judges offered critiques and praise based on ability and execution, Gene Simmons went in another direction.

“Chandler, you’ve fogged up my glasses. I don’t know what to tell you,” he told the Disney Channel actress. “You move me, not just with your gyrations and so on, but your beautiful face and how you were into the emotion of it.”

Her dance partner Brandon thought it was inappropriate.

“I said, ‘Hold up now.’ I have two little sisters,” Brandon told Us Weekly after the episode ended. Chandler didn’t mind the comments, but Brandon certainly did. “I heard it. I said, ‘Wait, wait, wait.'”
