‘DWTS’ Brandon Armstrong Blasts Gene Simmons’ Comments
Pro dancer Brandon Armstrong always gives his celebrity partner Chandler Kinney the best choreography possible. All season long, they’ve received high scores from judges and praise from fans. But it also comes with a little unwanted attention too.
Rock icon Gene Simmons was the guest judge on Dancing With The Stars this week but wasn’t overwhelmingly popular with fans. Overall, fans found his comments strange and objectifying. But they weren’t the only ones who felt that way.
Read on and see what Brandon had to say about Gene Simmons’ comments.
Pro Dancer Brandon Armstrong Felt Grossed Out By Gene Simmons’ Critique
Brandon and Chandler performed the Jive to Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” on Hair Metal Night. Despite being at the top of the leaderboard all season long, Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson outperformed them.
However, guest judge Gene Simmons had a special comment for Chandler. During the critique session, he told the Disney Channel star that she “fogged up” his glasses. Most DWTS fans thought the KISS icon’s comments were bizarre all night long. But his words for Chandler were particularly concerning.
“I’m getting blasted for that already,” Brandon Armstrong admitted to Us Weekly after the episode ended.
“Brandon has more feelings than I [do],” Chandler added, sharing that she just laughed Simmons’ comments off.
“I said, ‘Hold up now.’ I have two little sisters,” Brandon continued. Few contestants have spoken out against the rock star’s comments, but Brandon certainly wasn’t impressed. “I heard it. I said, ‘Wait, wait, wait.'”
Over on Instagram, fans had similar reactions.

- “I’m glad that I’m not the only one who has a problem with Gene’s comments especially with Chandler being so young.”
- “Gene’s comments on the women are starting to get annoying.”
- “Gene needs to go, he’s talking about Chandler’s ‘gyrating’ that ‘moved him’…”
Can The Pair Reclaim Their Spot At The Top?
The theme for week four is Dedication Night with former pro dancer Mark Ballas as a guest judge. Brandon and Chandler will perform a Contemporary routine to “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack.
Will the pair be able to climb back to the top of the leaderboard?
“I just try to disassociate and pretend it’s my own little world. I think, honestly, at some point that’s the healthiest thing that you can do,” the Disney Channel actress told Us Weekly. “Just focus on you and your partner and block out the rest. That’s kind of what I’ve been trying to do every week. … That’s been my strategy.”
