Charles Ling Reflects On His Time On The Golden Bachelorette

Sadly, The Golden Bachelorette, Joan Vassos had many tough decisions to make during the October 9 episode. Although it was a sad moment for Bachelor Nation to see Charles Ling go home, the retired Financial Analyst admits he saw the “data” watching the room. He knew the odds were he would either leave on Week 4 or Week 5. But he is very grateful for the time he had at the mansion. On the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, the hosts, Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt, discuss Charles’ journey. Sweetly, he wishes Joan well and tells her to “follow her heart” when picking her man. But he doesn’t regret the experience, he knows his heart is more open now and he has processed some of the grief. Admittedly, he would be okay with being the Golden Bachelor in the future.

During the podcast, they invite Charles Ling to play a game. Immediately, Charles was on board. He said he loves pickleball! Quickly, the hosts let him know they were meaning they wanted to play “Rapid-Fire Questions” right then. They explained they would pose questions and he was to answer the first thing that came to mind. During the speedy topics, Charles L. reveals the most adventurous thing he’s ever done.

Charles Ling Climbed A Spectacular Mountain

First, Joe Amabile asks what Charles Ling’s favorite food is. He says he likes fish. Additionally, he likes traveling including any rivers. Furthermore, he mentions his favorite part of parenting was to read to his kids. But Joe stumps him when he asks what his favorite Brittney Spears‘ song is. Unmistakably, his goal was to take Joan Vassos on a date to see Brittney, but there were too many good songs for him to choose just one. Instead, he says anything “nice” and “sweet” makes the list for him to listen to. Likewise, he tells Joe at the end of a long day, all he wants to do is relax. But Charles sparked everyone’s interest when he responds to the “most adventurous thing” he has done. Surprisingly, he says he has climbed a very high mountain. Specifically, he climbed Yellow Mountain in China.

According to China Discovery, “Yellow Mountain, also Mt. Huangshan was listed as World Heritage Site in 1992. It is famous for the five wonders – odd-shaped pines, spectacular rocky peaks, sea of clouds, hot spring and winter snow.” Furthermore, the site describes the mountain as being “Praised as the loveliest mountain in China.” Additionally, “Yellow Mountain has attracted millions of travelers to enjoy its breathtaking Magical Wonders.” And lovable Charles Ling is one of the people to climb the majestic mountain.

Travel And More

Not only is Charles Ling someone who loves to travel, but he says his “go-to” drink at a bar, controversial in his mind, is beer. Although he thought it would disappoint Joe and Serena, Joe reassures him, that beer is a fantastic option. While Charles says he has recently been traveling, he is playing “catch up” and then plans to check his DMs to see what dating teases await him.

However, when Joe wanted to know what superpower Charles Ling would choose if given a chance, he proudly declared: “Finance.” Although it wasn’t what Joe and Serena were expecting, Joe highly agrees he wished he had that superpower. Without a doubt, being a retired Finance Analyst, that power would come in very handy. When Charles reflected on what he would tell his younger self, he knew “caring about yourself and others” is what is most important. Additionally, Joe asks Charles to sum up his time with The Golden Bachelorette in one word. Charles had no problem exclaiming: “Spectacular!”

  1. If someone made personal progress on this Golden Bachelorette, it was Charles. He got in touch with his grief, and gave his self permission to find happiness. The group of men became great friends, and that filled his heart, as well. It shows you how important friends can be. And his conversation with Guy, a doctor, freed him up from questions about his wife’s passing. He was amazing and has my affection.
