Ringo Starr Has ‘Scary’ Health Scare, Cancels Tour
Music icon Ringo Starr has recently sparked concern after the cancelation of shows on his U.S. tour. Starr has become known for his healthy lifestyle over the years. However, his camp has recently released a concerning statement over the star’s health.
A Radio City Music Hall Performance Was Canceled
Ringo Starr first became internationally known for the drummer for the Beatles, having replaced Pete Best in the band. During this time, he occasionally wrote and provided vocals for songs.
Since then, however, Starr has had a prominent solo career. Most recently, his live namesake group, Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band, was set for a 2022-2024 tour.
However, amid health concerns, Starr has recently canceled some upcoming shows, including a performance at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall. At the time, as noted by Closer Weekly, a doctor advised him to take things slow after a significant cold.
On the star’s Instagram, the following statement was issued: “Today, Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band announced that unfortunately they have to cancel their upcoming last two shows, including tonight’s performance at TD Pavilion at The Mann in Philadelphia, PA and tomorrow at Radio City Music Hall in New York City due to illness.”
The post noted, “Ringo has come down with a cold and after consulting a doctor he was advised to cancel these two remaining shows and get rest.” The message ended reading, “As always, Ringo and the All Starrs send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them soon.”
Starr Previously Canceled Shows Back In 2022
According to Closer Weekly, a source pointed out that Starr regularly maintained a healthy lifestyle. As the statement read, “He’s still keeping up with the all-organic vegan diet and hasn’t touched a drop of alcohol in 36 years, but even an obsession with health and avoiding germs isn’t enough to keep the flu bug away, at least not anymore.” As it continued, “For a guy who never got the sniffles, this is worrying.”
The most recent health scare has gotten Starr worried about whether he can continue performing. As noted by the source, “It’s got him panicking over what’s next. This can’t be good for an 84-year-old. But at least Ringo’s dealing with it head-on.”

This isn’t the first time the famous Beatle had canceled shows in recent years over health concerns. Back in October 2022, Starr also canceled a few U.S. tour fates after being diagnosed with COVID-19. While he recovered, this health scare has gotten Starr not wanting to push himself too much with performing.
In 2023, Starr himself spoke with The San Diego Union-Tribune about his lifestyle. As he shared, “I go to the gym. I have a trainer who comes to my home three times a week. And I [work out] myself. On tour, usually I go at least four mornings a week to the gym. So, I think you’ve just got to keep moving and eat right. I do the best I can.”
