Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s Exit Put An End To ‘Sprina’
Spencer and Trina’s romance first started in 2021 when they started to get to know each other as friends. Love eventually blossomed and the two were inseparable. Nicholas Alexander Chavez took over the role of Spencer in 2021 after the legacy character was rapidly aged (SORASed.)
Several actresses played the role of Trina before Tabyana Ali took over in 2022. As the characters fell in love, viewers fell in love right along with them. Their romance culminated in the characters spending the night together in September 2023.
By January 2024, Spencer was presumed dead. He fell overboard into the Seine River after a tussle with his ex, Esme. His body was never found. The ‘death’ was a way to write the character off screen so Nicholas Alexander Chavez could film the Netflix series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
The actor intended to return to the soap but landed another big role and decided not to return. Spencer Cassadine is still presumed dead.
During a recent interview with TV Line, Nicholas Alexander Chavez admitted that he hadn’t spoken to his former co-star in a while. But he said he wished her the best and praised Tabyana Ali as a great actress.
GH Star Tabyana Ali Speaks Out Over Lack Of Storyline For Trina
Without the love story of ‘Sprina,’ Trina has been reduced to a sounding board for her bestie, Josslyn (Eden McCoy.) Tabyana Ali joined co-star Maurice Benard for a chat on his State of Mind vlog.
He asked her point blank, “What’s up with Sprina, or whatever the frick is going on?” The actress replied that it was a good question. “I kind of wish I knew, too.” Maurice Benard noted that Nicholas Alexander Chavez “went off to do this thing,” and congratulated him on his success.
However, he added that the show needs to figure something out and bring Spencer back. He shared a short clip of the interview on Twitter, and several fans agreed that ‘Sprina’ needs to be revived.
