Ruby Franke’s Daughter Reacts To New Lifetime Movie
As mentioned above, Shari is the oldest daughter of the convicted child abuser Ruby Franke. She was arrested and convicted in 2023. Lifetime didn’t hesitate to try and capitalize on the events.
Shari took to Instagram over the weekend to share her reaction to the news of the new Lifetime movie, Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story.
“I saw the trailer suddenly in class and had an anxiety attack,” she shared via her Instagram Story. “None of us were contacted about the movie. None of the proceeds are going to the kids.” Shari is one of six children Ruby Franke shared with her ex-husband Kevin Franke.
Pleading with her followers, Shari said, “This movie is trash, and only hurts my siblings more. Please do not support this movie.”
What Is The New Lifetime Movie About?
In Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story, Emilie Ullerup stars as Ruby. Heather Locklear plays the role of Ruby’s business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt.
Both Ruby and Jodi were arrested and charged with child abuse in September of 2023. At the time, Ruby’s 12-year-old son Russell escaped Jodi’s home and ran to a neighbor’s for help. Russell was emaciated and had visible wounds on his body. There were also tape marks on his wrists and ankles.
Ring camera footage showed Russell begging the neighbor to take him to the nearest police station. Ruby’s nine-year-old daughter was also found to be in a similar condition in Jodi’s home when authorities arrived to investigate.
In the end, Ruby Franke pleaded guilty to four counts of child abuse in December of 2023. On February 20, 2024, Ruby and Jodi were sentenced to 4 to 60 years in prison.
Shari Franke has been vocal about her mother’s arrest. In September of 2023, she took to Instagram to react to her mom being charged with child abuse.
At the same, Shari said, “Today has been a big day. Me and my family are so glad justice is being served. We’ve been trying to tell the police and CPS for years about this, and so glad they finally decided to step up.”
As the court case continued to play out, Shari spoke about how heavy everything had become for her. She talked about crying, panic attacks, and mounting depression. Ultimately, she is glad that her mother is finally serving time for the abuse that she and her siblings had to endure.
