Before she entered the her role as a television talk show host, Wendy Williams was known as the queen of New York radio. She rose to fame as the host of Hot 97 in the Big Apple. The position led to her making a lot of friends, but she had one notable enemy in the industry. It was none other than Sean “Diddy” Combs. At one point, Wendy said that the Bad Boy Records founder put her through hell and tried to ruin her career. Here is what she said.

Wendy Recounts The Hell Diddy Put Her Through In Her Book

In her 2004 book The Wendy Williams Experience, Wendy let it be known that she and Sean Combs didn’t get along. She accused him of putting her through hell and attempting to “single-handedly ruin” her career.

“The hell he put me through. I will never forget. But I don’t hate him,” Wendy wrote in the book.

“For the record, I do not hate Sean ‘Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy’ Combs,” she continued, setting things straight. “I do not hate anyone, for that matter. I do, however, hold a certain level of contempt for Puffy. He single-handedly tried to ruin me, tried to ruin my career. He spent a lot of money and used a lot of his influence to try to crush me in New York in the late 1990s.”

Wendy Williams alleged that Diddy was the person behind her getting fired from the radio show. Apparently, the rapper’s former bodyguard Gene Deal has confirmed those claims.

Gene spoke about what went down in 2022. He said that Diddy got ahold of executives at Hot 97 in New York. The rapper was out in Los Angeles for a few days and told the station that if they didn’t get rid of Wendy Williams before he touched back down in NY, he was going to make sure they had a hard time accessing music. He threatened to have all of his friends in the music industry boycott the station.

Diddy’s former bodyguard said that when they landed back in New York, “Wendy Williams was in the radio station in Philly. It was over for her. She was fired.”

Diddy Tried To Have A Girl Group Beat Wendy Williams Up

In a 2005 broadcast, Wendy also spoke about how the members of Diddy’s R&B girls group “Total” almost assaulted her. The women were allegedly ready to jump her as she left work at the radio station one day.

“Once upon a time, there was a music mogul who sent his all-girl group to beat my a** in front of the radio station. Fact! I finished my shift, round up my headphones, put my bag [on] my arm and I see everybody lined up at the window looking down on the sidewalk,” she recalled on a 2019 episode of The Wendy Williams Show.

So, there is no doubt that there was tension between the music mogul and the radio show host.

Recently, Wendy broke her silence on Diddy’s September 16 arrest. She told The Daily Mail, “You know how I feel about that? It is about time.”

Wendy was vocal about how dangerous she thought Diddy could be in previous episodes of her show as well. She offered his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura a warning about how controlling he could be long before videos of him physically abusing her were made public.

It seems Wendy Williams is just another celebrity lining up to say “I told you so” about Sean “Diddy” Combs.
