Sabrina Carpenter has accomplished a lot of her goals in recent years. Notably, Carpenter served as the musical guest slot for a 2024 episode of Saturday Night Live. In a recent interview, however, she revealed a surprising reaction to the gig.

Carpenter’s Already Making Her Dreams Come True

Carpenter served as the musical guest in a Season 49 episode of Saturday Night Live, with Jake Gyllenhaal as the guest host. During the show, she performed “Espresso” and a mash-up of “Feather” and “Nonsense.” The episode, which premiered on May 18, 2024, also notably saw Carpenter in a Scooby-Doo parody as Daphne, with Gyllenhaal as Fred.

In a recent interview with Time, Carpenter talked about how she was making all of her dreams come true. As she explained, “There were so many things I dreamt of doing as a little girl I got to do this year that felt like such a cool, sweet, little bucket-list moment for my younger self.”

In particular, Carpenter admitted she almost couldn’t handle the news she’d be on the famous sketch comedy. As she put it, “I literally threw up when I found out about SNL. Not to be graphic.”

When discussing her recent VMAs performance, Carpenter added, “I grew up watching those performances and being like, I want to do that. But then it all just seemed so—not even out of reach, just like I had a different plan in my head of when it was all supposed to happen.”

Carpenter Thinks Everything Was Worth The Wait

However, Carpenter felt like the time it took for her to make her dreams come true was worth it in the end. She mused that, “If I was even 17 or 18, I think I would have been way, way more nervous and intimidated.” As she put it, “I feel so prepared for these moments” in her career.

The singer noted that she is in a business where age can be used against her. “People like to make you feel like, when you’re above 21 in this industry, you’re haggard,” she noted. However, she chose not to let such opinions get to her, saying, “But I’m trying to remember that I’m still quite young.”

While Carpenter has already accomplished a lot with her musical career, the publication asked if she had any more goals. More to the point, she was asked if she had goals that would make her react like the SNL gig. Carpenter’s answer was “If I could perform at the Grammys.”

In addition to her performances over the past years, Carpenter can also had holiday headliner to her list of milestones. As previously reported, Netflix announced Carpenter’s own holiday special with A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter.
