Wendy Williams’ Money Has Disappeared, What Happened?
Wendy Williams’ wealth has been a topic of conversation for the last couple of years. That is because her family and friends have cast doubt on the person who had been appointed by the courts to care for Wendy and her finances. One friend said Williams had $50 million in the bank, but her guardian claims it is now gone.
Here is what we know about Williams and her missing money.
Wendy Williams’ Money Has Disappeared
Wendy Williams was the focus of a TV documentary airing on Lifetime called Where is Wendy Williams? The documentary aired in February and was one of the most-watched shows in Lifetime history. According to reports, Lifetime only paid Wendy $82,000 for the project.
Wendy’s attorneys said the documentary was a cruel attempt to show off her mental and medical woes to the world. They say that the documentary hurt her more than anything, and now they want the network to pay for her medical bills.
“This is a paltry sum for the use of highly invasive, humiliating footage that showed her in the confusing throes of dementia, while defendants, who have profited on the streaming of the program, have likely already earned millions,” the legal team wrote (via In Touch Weekly).
Wendy’s legal team tried to block the documentary but failed to stop it. “No person who witnessed [Wendy] in these circumstances could possibly have believed that she was capable of consenting to an agreement to film,” they wrote.
Where Is Wendy Williams’ Money?
This leads to a question about what happened to Wendy Williams’s money. Wendy Williams’ best friend Regina Schell said that Wendy had $55 million in her Wells Fargo bank account. After guardian Sabrina Morrissey took over, the money disappeared, and Morrissey claimed Wendy was out of money.
Wendy’s bank account was frozen, and her alimony payments to Kevin Hunter stopped. Kevin is taking Wendy to court for the money owed him under their divorce settlement, but Morrissey claims she will represent Wendy. However, since Morrissey is only listed as a guardian in New York, and the court case is in New Jersey, Kevin demands that Wendy attend the hearing.
Kevin is not doing this to hurt Wendy, though. He feels that Morrissey has stolen the money from Williams, and he wants her in court to find out what happened to all her wealth and net worth.
However, it seems that the cost of Wendy Williams’s treatment and the wellness center for her aphasia and dementia diagnoses is depleting her savings. The source claims that “Wendy faces long-term care for the rest of her life, and her wealth has dwindled considerably as she’s no longer able to work. Lifetime should foot the bill for her care, since they made millions exploiting her decline.”
