In a post on Instagram, Gifford shared a photo of herself playing with one of her grandsons. As she wrote in the caption, “Beyond happy to be home with my precious little guys.”

“Want to thank all of you again, who prayed for me so much when I was in the hospital. Now I’m running around like a teenager healed by the grace of God and the prayers of faithful friends. Thank you so much shalom shalom.”

Gifford’s Active Lifestyle Worked Against Her Recovery Process

Since the procedure, Gifford has learned that the recovery process could be the real challenge. With various outlets, she learned the hard way that she couldn’t immediately go back to her previous lifestyle.

As noted by Closer Weekly, Gifford revealed she underwent hip replacement surgery back in July. While appearing on Today, she shared, “My doctor finished the surgery, came in to tell me it went beautifully, and then he said, ‘Kathie, how have you been existing all this time? [You had] some of the worst hips I’ve ever seen.’”

As the publication noted, a fall at home caused Gifford to be hospitalized again after her pelvis broke in two places. Talking to People, Gifford also explained how recovery was a challenge for her. As she explained, “I walked, I climbed, I walked, and my doctor said, ‘Kathie, no. You have got to realize that this is serious.”

“And I was off my walker in two days. I was off all my medications in three days, and then I did too much. I just did too much because that’s who I am.” As she continued, “I started carrying books around and signing and getting ready, and my grandchildren came to visit.”

However, Gifford learned she needed to take recovery seriously, treating it like a learning experience. As she put it, “And you can’t. I have learned from this that you only can only do so much. You’re just human. You’re just human. And I’m so grateful.”
