Actress Jennifer Aniston became a household name thanks to her role as Rachel Green on Friends. Fans still like to talk about various moments of the show, even years later. When the color of a famous dress Rachel wears became a topic of debate, Aniston herself decided to settle the issues once and for all.

The Dress Came From A Famous ‘Bottle’ Episode

The dress in question appears in the episode, “The One Where No One’s Ready.” The story revolves around the gang getting ready to attend a function for Ross. For one reason or another, the friends keep getting delayed.

Initially, Rachel keeps changing her mind on what to wear. When Ross insults her, she decides not to go. In the end, she forgives him and picks a new dress.

The episode is considered an example of a television “bottle episode,” in which characters seldom leave the setting. In the episode, the characters spend most of their time getting ready in Monica’s apartment, with the exception of the final scene. This both highlights Ross’ anxiety and allows the characters to get ready in “real time.”

The Max streaming service recently posted a side-by-side image of Rachel’s dress in the episode. The purpose was to showcase how different the show looked between HD an 4K.

The post wrote that, “As if @jenniferaniston could be any more perfect.” Celebrating the show, it continued, “Always there for you. Celebrate 30 years of #Friends now streaming in 4K on Max. #Friends30.”

The Story Brings to Mind A Famous Meme

However, what fans really noticed was that the dress looked different colors between the images. The dress looked mint green in one image and blue in the other.

This naturally led to debate from fans on just what color the dress was. As one user, identified as “lulucasbarboza,” even quipped, “Rachel not so Green.”

According to People, Aniston herself took to Instagram to end the debate. The actress shared the original post on her Stories, even sharing the “Rachel not so Green” comment. She revealed that, “For the record, the dress was mint green.”

Friends, which lasted from 1994 to 2004, celebrated its 30-year on September 22. In a discussion with People back in April, Aniston noted that, “It was just magic. Nothing was not exciting,” As she continued, “And it’s still exciting, but we’ve had more experiences. We’ve learned more lessons. There’s a little more behind us.”

The story also brings to mind a famous meme from 2015. After a photo of the outfit, known as “the dress,” was posted to Facebook, viewers debated whether it was white and gold or blue and black. As noted by Slate, this led to discussions on the science of human perception.
