‘DWTS’ Peta Murgatroyd Explains Tattoo She Shares With Maks
Peta Murgatroyd showed off a new tattoo recently, which caused a frenzy among fans. According to the Dancing with the Stars pro, fans started flooding into her comments when they saw her tattoo and wanted to know if it had a personal meaning.
Peta finally took the time to explain what the tattoo was all about. Here is what you need to know.
Peta Murgatroyd Explains Her Avacado Tattoo
Peta Murgatroyd said that people had noticed her avocado tattoo. So many people asked about it that she felt she needed to reveal what it was all about. It turns out she and her husband, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, share this.
“Yes, it is an avocado, it’s the half of the avocado without the pit in there,” Peta said (via Newsweek). She went on to say that she and Maks wanted to get something done that was fun, but they were not sure what to get. They decided quickly against getting their names or images tattooed on each other.
“I believe that, I don’t know, s*** goes down if you get each other’s names on each other or a face or an eye or whatever, so we didn’t—we don’t want that to happen,” she said. Thanks to the superstition of personalized tattoos leading to bad things, they looked for something else.
While in Tulum, Mexico, for his 40th birthday, they were looking for something that symbolized them as a unit in their marriage, “emotionally, physically, spiritually, everything.” This is when the tao saw matching avocado tattoos, and they wanted to get it. However, they decided not to do it and came home.
That said, they never forgot the tattoo idea. When they went on vacation in Hawaii, they finally decided to get it. “So Maks has the other half with the pit inside, so we come together when we hold hands, and it kind of just locks in like that,” she revealed.

Peta admitted that it might be “corny,” but she thought it was “the cutest thing ever and it’s not names, it’s not anything that has bad juju or anything like that it’s literally just, he’s got the pit, which is symbolic of, I guess, being a man… can I say that? And I have the one with the hole. Anyway that’s the story.”

After a one-season hiatus, Peta Murgatroyd last appeared on Dancing with the Stars in Season 31. She danced with actor Jason Lewis, the first couple eliminated. She and Donald Driver won the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 14.
Maks Chmerkovskiy hasn’t danced in the long-running reality competition show since season 25, retiring from the program. Chmerkovskiy made it to the final round five times, with two runner-ups and two third-place finishes.
