Soap fans are excited about talks of Lifetime reviving All My Children, but what about other canceled soaps like One Life To Live and Another World? Keep reading for more about the possibility of other soaps returning from the dead.

More Information About All My Children Revival

Coming back from the dead is a storyline staple of soap operas. So, it’s rather fitting that there are once again talks of bringing All My Children back to life. The ABC soap was canceled in 2011 to make room for more afternoon talk shows, which were cheaper to produce.

The beloved soap had a brief resurrection online but streaming wasn’t popular yet, so it only lasted a few months. Actress Susan Lucci, who starred as Erica Kane for 40 years, almost made an appearance on General Hospital but it never happened.

All My Children alums Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, teased a reboot in 2020, but it never got off the ground. They co-host the Live With Kelly & Mark talk show, but never forget their soap roots. The couple met and fell in love on All My Children.

Now Lifetime is working on bringing the soap back in a series of TV movies, including a Christmas-themed one. It’s unclear if Susan Lucci will return, but it’s unlikely that AMC star Alexa Havins will. She just joined General Hospital as a recast Lulu Spencer.

Is Lifetime Bringing Back OLTL & Other Cancelled Soaps?

One Life To Live was also on ABC’s chopping block due to budget cuts. The soap last aired in 2012. It was also briefly revived by The Online Network but was ultimately canceled for good along with AMC.

Soap fans still mourn other canceled soaps, including NBC’s Another World, Guiding Light, and As The World Turns, the latter of which aired on CBS.

CBS currently has two soaps on the air – The Young & The Restless and The Bold & The Beautiful – but a brand-new soap will join the lineup early next year. That will bring the number of current soap operas to four, including ABC’s General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, which moved from NBC to Peacock in 2022.

Soaps.com speculated that if The Gates and Lifetime’s All My Children revival get good ratings, the network might consider bringing other canceled soaps back in the movie format planned for AMC.

If you could bring back one canceled soap, which one would it be? Let us know in the comments if you plan to watch Lifetime’s All My Children revival.

  1. How about bringing back all of them to tie up loose ends like revealing on Another World that Scott Love is actually Marley and Victoria’s fraternal triplet because Reginald Love revealed it back in 1986 and that Cecile DePoulignac secretly gave birth to Cass Winthrops secret son being raised by her parents Louis St. George and the Contessa Elena DePoulignac.

  2. I have been waiting since the online AMC ended for someone to realize it’s worth and bring it back. I have the hardback book that is the anniversary edition of All My Cildren with EVERYTHING you need to know. It’s like an encyclopedia and I know it by heart. I started watching when I was 17 (probably 6 years in).
I ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT WAIT. I AM A MEGA FAN!!!!

  3. That’s a tough one! I grew up watching NBC soaps because my mom did. As I got older and having slumber parties and going to friends, one watched Young and the Restless, another GH… I absolutely loved Another World!!!! I was still NBC girl and hello, Bo on Days! And Wayne Northrop… talk about a sexy detective! But GH and ABC became my favorites! John McBain played by our handsome one and only! I love Cass Winthrop and the gang. I simply don’t care for Days anymore, I’d rather have Another World, OLTL, AMC AND MOST DEFINITELY GH AND STEVE BURTON!

  4. Definitely watching Susan Lucci in All my Children live that show! I cried for days when it got cancelled. it was like an old friend. I started watching when I was 16. so it hit me hard. I would watch ILTL. that would be it for me.

  5. I would definitely watch A ONE LIFE TO LIVE reboot. It was my favorite show. It’s a shame that we lost Andrea Evans, but it is one of the most diverse soaps on the air. GENERAL HOSPITAL now holds that crown.
