Aside from her 655-pound weight, Shakyia is also dealing with asthma and lymphedema, making it difficult for her to perform any physical tasks. She showed determination to turn her life around. During her episode, Shakyia revealed that she suffered from sexual assault. She lived in foster care for quite some time, leading to her unhealthy lifestyle. It was too late when she began to have a good support system. But the My 600-lb Life star wants to defy all odds. Due to this, she sought Dr. Now’s help in the hopes of getting herself back on track.

The bariatric surgeon gave Shakyia a task to lose 50 pounds in order to proceed with the operation. However, she suffered from respiratory failure while trying to shed weight. As a result, she ended up using a walker and only lost 21 pounds. Dr. Now had no other choice but to drop her from the program, though he’d reconsider taking her again if she showed a willingness to lose weight.

Shakyia continues to stay in touch with the fans amid her physical journey. However, it seems the My 600-lb Life star is having issues regarding her diet. Earlier this month, Shakyia Jackson asked for help about possible alternatives to sweets. According to her, she suffers from headaches and withdrawals from eating certain sweets.

It appears her diet is still not healthy since she parted ways with Dr. Now. Shakyia has yet to share her current weight. But she uploaded a photo of herself in August spending time with a friend. Unfortunately, not much changed from what she looked like during the show.

Aside from her weight loss journey, Shakyia has also been focusing on her business. The My 600-lb Life star is currently selling customized tumblers. She also hustles online by selling pens and badges. According to Shakyia Jackson, one of the main reasons why she’s been selling items online was for her to buy tickets for concerts.
