‘Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana Shay Gives Update On Fertility Journey
Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay is giving an update on her fertility journey. She recently shared that she and her husband, Brock Davies had a meeting with a fertility specialist. This would determine their next steps in possibly having a second child so how did it turn out? Keep reading for more details.
Scheana Shay Gives Update On Fertility Journey
After Scheana Shay welcomed her first daughter, Summer Moon, in 2021, it was extremely traumatizing. She was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome. Her blood pressure shot up drastically and it was terrifying. This made her rethink ever having another child naturally. Additionally, Scheana was diagnosed with postpartum OCD. She was scared to leave Summer with anybody aside from her mother and that was shown in Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules. It caused an immense amount of drama between her and her husband, Brock Davies who just wanted to relax and spend time with his wife.
They have talked about baby number two. Scheana had frozen her eggs in the past which she showed off in Season 8. She noted that she was not with anyone but still wanted the insurance policy. In a recent podcast, Scheana shared that she and Brock wanted to start exploring their options for another baby. So, they were heading to a fertility doctor to have his sperm evaluated. Now, she is back with an update, according to Us Weekly. She opened up on the Friday, September 13th episode of her Scheananigans podcast about what transpired during their visit.
Apparently, Brock is winning in the fertility department:
“He said he’s never seen sperm so good. [Even though Brock] didn’t listen to doctor’s orders. He did the cold plunge the night before and he went in the sauna. He did everything the doctor said don’t do.”
It is exceptionally high which has helped as Brock Davies and Scheana Shay are discussing using a surrogate for baby number two:
“If they said like, ‘Oh, I don’t know [about his sperm count]’ then we’re like, ‘OK, we’re good at one and done.’ But we’re having a surrogate talk. We will see. But I also struggle with ‘What if all of the eggs fertilize. What if I have six embryos and we only want one more kid?’”
Scheana has also said that she is not sure if she is really ready for another baby but feels that this process could take some time. Therefore, that helps to know there is time on her side.
Other Avenues
A few months after Summer Moon was born in 2021, Scheana Shay shared that surrogacy was not the only option. They were also thinking about adoption:
“I’ll be turning my eggs into embryos and considering a surrogate, considering adopting or considering taking our chances. We’re not gonna even think about it until after Summer’s 1st birthday.”
Now, it seems that surrogacy is the main route they are going but it is likely hard not to think about a second baby. Close friend and co-star, Lala Kent just welcomed her second baby, Sosa via IUI. She was born on September 3rd, 2024 and their daughters are both 3 plus they spend a lot of time together. So, that could be the push they need or Scheana may get her baby fill via Sosa.
