In the aftermath of the arrest, many are curious to learn more about the details of their marriage. Now, new information reveals Nikki and Artem didn’t legally marry at their wedding in 2022. Read on to get the scoop.

However, there was more they weren’t sharing with the public — including their actual wedding date.

Court documents obtained by PEOPLE reveal Nikki Garcia and Artem Chigvintsev were legally married on January 19, 2023. This date is five months after their August 2022 wedding in Paris. The epic Nikki Bella Says “I Do” special documented their special day, which premiered the following February.

It’s not uncommon for couples to file legal paperwork after their actual wedding ceremony. Their wedding in Europe may have also impacted the timeline to legally marry as well. However, many fans believe five months seems a little excessive.

The Former WWE Superstar Requests Privacy During This Difficult Time

Although fans want to know more about the divorce, neither Nikki Garcia nor Artem Chigvintsev is speaking up. Since the arrest, Artem has been out of the public eye and laying low. Meanwhile, Nikki went on to host a hot dog eating contest, noticeably without her wedding ring. They’re also reportedly living apart while they navigate this chapter in their marriage.

Nikki issued an official statement through her representative requesting privacy for the family.

“She continues to ask for privacy for her and her family at this time,” the representative told PEOPLE. The publication reports the representative also confirmed Nikki was seeking a divorce, putting an end to speculation about the state of their marriage.

DWTS executives did not invite Artem Chigvintsev back for Season 33. And after his domestic violence charges, it seems unlikely he has a place with the show moving forward.
