‘Bold & Beautiful’ Heather Tom Reveals Shocking Pregnancy Twist
Bold & Beautiful fans love seeing Katie (played by Heather Tom) front and center again. Her character has experienced so much in the soap opera over the years. Apparently, one storyline wouldn’t have happened without Heather’s input. She talked about the shocking twist she had a part in recently. Here is what she revealed.
Heather Tom Persuaded Producers To Run With Pregnancy
When it comes to Katie’s storyline, she has faced a number of struggles on the soap. She has a rocky relationship with her ex-husband Bill (Don Diamont). The character has also faced health issues and her fair share of drama.
In 2012, Heather Tom was pregnant. The revelation left producers and writers scratching their heads. When a soap star becomes pregnant, the show has to make a decision. They either write the pregnancy into the storyline or they hide it with camera angles.
Katie having a baby wasn’t anywhere in the plans for Bold & Beautiful producers at the time. However, Heather Tom thought that it could be crafted into an enticing storyline.
The actress recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest. She revealed that she pitched the idea of incorporating her pregnancy into the CBS soap opera.
“When I got pregnant many years ago, I went to [Executive Producer/Head Writer] Brad [Bell], and I said, ‘It’s your prerogative, of course, but I think it would be nice if you wrote this pregnancy in,’” she told the publication. “I think it’s something that, for Katie and Bill [Don Diamont], would be the next step to their trajectory. And thankfully, he agreed.”
Bold & Beautiful Storyline Points To Katie & Bill Reuniting
If you were watching Bold & Beautiful back then, you’ll remember that Bill was concerned about the pregnancy because Katie has heart problems. Although the pregnancy was risky, Katie decided to move forward. Everything went well up until she went into labor. Katie nearly died giving birth to their son, Will (now Crew Morrow).
Then, after having a traumatic birth experience, Katie was tossed into the throws of severe postpartum depression. Katie wound up skipping town and left Will with Bill and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang).
She sought help from Taylor (now Rebecca Budig) and was able to recover from her postpartum depression. Eventually, she went back home. Upon her return, she discovered that a romance between Bill and Brooke developed.
Bill’s feelings for Brooke were one of the constant problems in his marriage to Katie. Even though they are divorced now, Katie and Bill remain in contact because of their shared son. Will is plotting to reunite his parents and now that a few key players are out of the picture, he thinks his efforts might pay off.
Whatever happens next, Heather Tom is back in the spotlight on Bold & Beautiful with the two Spencer men. Fans can tune in on weekdays to CBS to see how things play out.
