Penn Badgley Showcases Drastic New Haircut At US Open

Penn Badgley showcases his drastic new haircut at the US Open and he’s practically a new person. The star of the Netflix hit series You, chose the US Open Celebrity Blue Carpet to showcase his new look.

Penn Badgley’s New Do

Penn Badgley otherwise known to most as Joe Goldberg has gotten rid of his well-known locks to unveil a new do.  The Women’s Final between Sabalenka and Pegula on Day 13 of the 2024 US Open was about more than just tennis on Saturday as the famous actor seemed to steal the spotlight.

Badgley’s appearance stole the show with his brand new buzzcut and trimmed beard. This was a completely new switch as compared to his previous hairstyles which usually went for a fuller look.

Proof of how new the look is can be shown through Badgley’s TikTok account. The Netflix star posted a video on August 15th which seemed to showcase his last day of filming You. In the video, the actor used the “demure” trend, appealing to his younger audience.

Badgley’s curly hair and clean-shaven face were depicted in the video. The video might’ve been old and he could’ve just posted it then. However, signs seem to point to his new do coming sometime between then and September 7th.

At the US Open, Badgley was very into the tennis match. The event with the unveiling was in New York at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. New York is a pretty significant place for Badgley for another reason which could have to do with his location choice.

A Buzzcut Star

Before starring on Netflix’s You, Badgley was known for his role as Dan Humphrey in the teen drama series, Gossip Girl, on CW. He played a teen from Brooklyn who attended a private school, St. Jude’s with New York’s elite. Breaking through the barrier, he became a part of them despite not having the same lifestyle.

His next big break came from his most well-known work, You. The thriller series follows Joe Goldberg who becomes infatuated with beautiful and smart young women. An innocent crush turns into a deep-rooted obsession when it comes to Joe. He does whatever he can to get close to the objects of his desire and removes any known obstacles by any means necessary.

Badgley seemingly unveiled his new look very soon after You finished filming its final season, Season 5 over the summer. It seems he was ready for a change and maybe even kept his longer hair just for the show.

You Season 5 was announced by Netflix in March 2023 and was set to premiere during 2024 so there’s hope it will come within the next few months.

Filming the final season of the show that jumpstarted Badgley’s career was not all the talented actor did this year. He was also featured in the music video for ‘The Boy Is Mine’ by Ariana Grande which came out in June.

Fans don’t have to worry about missing Badgley’s old hairstyle as it should still be seen in Season 5 of You. However, unless he wears a wig for his next project, buzzcuts might be in his fan’s futures.
