It is time for Rival Family Food Wars! The highly anticipated new Hallmark+ series The Chicken Sisters is about to premiere with the first episode. This latest dramatic series stars Wendie Malick, Lea Thompson, Schuyler Fisk, and Genevieve Angelson as two rival chicken restaurants, Mimi’s and Frannie’s, go head-to-head on a food television restaurant battle. What is the first episode “Welcome To Merinac, Y’all” about? According to the Hallmark synopsis, Amanda Moore Hillier married into and works for the family that runs Frannie’s. However, it was her mom, Augusta “Gus” Moore who runs Mimi’s. Therefore, this mother-daughter relationship was now “as cold as a frog’s tail.” Nancy Hillier considers Amanda to be the daughter she never had. When Amanda married Frank Jr., she started working for Frannie’s.
“Amanda learns that the cooking competition show Ultimate Kitchen Class is looking for restaurant rivals to vie for the $100,000 prize and impulsively submits Frannie’s and Mimi’s. When host Sabrina Skye calls and gives her the good news that the show is coming to Merinac, Amanda is stunned and panicked – she has no idea how to get her mom on board. Gus ultimately agrees but…only if Mae, Amanda’s sister who flew the coop years earlier for the bright lights of New York, returns to help. When Mae initially balks at the idea, an unexpected professional pitfall makes her do an abrupt about-face.
