Gary Coleman was a staple in 1970s television. He played Arnold Jackson on Diff’rent Strokes and he was a standout child actor in his time on TV. Unfortunately, Gary had an accident and died after a fall in his kitchen. He was only 42 years old. Now, a new Peacock documentary is taking a closer look at the actor’s death. Here is what you can expect from the new doc, plus details of Gary’s untimely death.

Shannon Price Pulled The Plug Against Gary’s Wishes

Fans were heartbroken to learn of Gary Coleman’s death in May of 2010. What stunned people even more was that the finger of suspicion was pointed at his ex-wife, Shannon Price.

The estranged couple was still living together at the time of the star’s death. Shannon alleges that she found Gary Coleman on the kitchen floor at their home in Utah. His head was in a pool of blood and she immediately called 911.

Sounding frantic and breathless on the phone, Shannon told the 911 operator, “I can’t be here with all this blood. I’m gagging . . . I don’t wanna be traumatized right now.”

An ambulance reported to the scene and took Gary to the hospital, but Shannon stayed behind. Two days later, she pulled the plug on his life support. However, it was known that Gary Coleman wanted to be kept alive for two weeks if a medical emergency like this ever occurred. This increased the number of people who were suspicious about Shannon’s involvement.

Gary Coleman & Ex-Wife Had A Toxic Relationship

In the new documentary, Shannon Price addresses the rumors that she would hurt her ex-husband. She insisted to producers, “I would never hurt my husband, ever.”

While she says she’d never hurt him, she did admit to hitting Gary Coleman in the past. “I slapped him a couple of times, I mean nothing major, nothing, like, red flag,” she said. “People smack each other, they hit each other. People do it. If you deny it, you’re crazy.”

That said, Shannon said that it was hurtful that people would accuse her of murdering her ex-husband. At the time, police found no wrongdoing and the coroner ruled it an “accident.”

However, she continued to raise suspicion about her involvement with the decisions she made in the days after his fall. She sold a photo of her husband on his deathbed to tabloids, defending her choice to do so by saying “people needed to see what he went through.”

The late actor’s lawyer opens up in the documentary, telling viewers about the “tumultuous relationship” between Shannon and Gary. She allegedly mocked her husband’s size, as he was only 4 ft 8 in. Knowing how their relationship was, many of Gary Coleman’s friends believe there are still questions that need to be answered about his death.

GARY premiered on Peacock on August 29. It is available to stream now.
