Devin Strader seemed infatuated with Jenn Tran from their first meeting. The Bachelorette Season 21 contestant riled the other suitors by doing anything he could to get more time with Jenn. The attention paid off. Jenn and Devin got engaged during the season’s final rose ceremony.
But the bloom quickly fell off the rose. Viewers found out during a heartbreaking After The Final Rose special that the couple had already broken up. From Jenn Tran’s point of view, her fiance changed immediately after they left the stunning Hawaii proposal location. She said he stopped replying to her texts and ultimately broke up with her in a ten-minute phone call a month ago.
Devin didn’t really have anything to say to defend his behavior. Viewers have been speculating non-stop that maybe he was never really into Jenn and only wanted to win the show.
Mari Pepin, who got engaged to Kenny Braasch on Season 7 of Bachelor In Paradise, shared her opinion on the change in Devin. She told the Daily Express US that Devin sounded completely different during ATFR than he did throughout the season.
“This is not how he has sounded this entire season. Just the tonality and the way he was speaking, much less what he was saying.”
In Mari Pepin’s opinion, there is a lot more to the story of Devin and Jenn’s split. She said that Devin “switched up very quickly” between being all-in and skeptical of the relationship. The BIP alum added that Devin was putting up a front.
“It seems that he knew early on that he was kind of putting on a front. Because you’re saying all of these things in one moment and then afterwards, you’re like, ‘Oh no, none of that was true, none of that was real,’ like, what?”

Mari Pepin also answered questions from her social media followers during the After The Final Rose special. She quickly corrected one follower who confused her with Maria Georgas. Jenn Tran revealed on live TV that Devin had followed Maria on social media that day after ending their engagement.
She shared her thoughts on why ABC aired footage of Jenn and Devin getting engaged while Jenn was sobbing uncontrollably. In Mari Pepin’s opinion, the decision came down to ratings.

I think that Devin was never interested in Jenn. Jenn should have listened to what the men were telling her. Especially Sam. He knew Devin was there for the wrong reasons. Sam was just immature but that doesn’t mean he was wrong in his assessment.
