Amy Slaton Arrested With Her Two Kids In The Car
On Monday, September 2, Amy Slaton Halterman was arrested and charged with drug possession and child endangerment. The Crockett County Sheriff’s Department reported they responded to a call about a zoo patron allegedly being bitten by a camel at Safari Park in Tennessee.
The 1000-Lb. Sisters star is the person who was bitten by the camel. She was taken to the emergency room for medical treatment before being booked. An employee at the drive-through zoo called the police to report the injury and they responded to the scene.
When they arrived, they smelled a “suspicious” odor coming from the vehicle. After searching the car, they discovered mushrooms and marijuana. A man named Brian Scott Lovvorn was also in the car, along with two children.
“We have these drugs in the car and two people and two kids,” the Sherriff’s Department told Us Weekly. According to Public Information Officer Stephen Sutton, there has been a plan put in place “involving the parents and there is still ongoing investigation as to where the kids will be placed.”
Amy Slaton shares two songs, Gage, 4, and Glenn, 2, with her ex-husband Michael Halterman. Now, it seems the Department of Children and Family Services will be stepping in to determine where her kids will live following her arrest.
Both Amy and her friend Brian are still in custody awaiting their bond hearing.
How Will Amy’s Arrest Impact 1000-Lb. Sisters?
TLC fans know Amy Slaton Halterman from 1000-Lb. Sisters. Alongside her sister, Tammy Slaton, Amy has lost a significant amount of weight. The show has also put a spotlight on the two women’s various relationships since 2020.
Amy’s relationship with her now ex-husband was a focal point for the show for a long time. They first got married in 2019 and had their children in 2020 and 2022.
After just four years of marriage, Amy and Michael decided to call it quits. Michael filed for divorce last year and listed the couple’s separation date as February 24, 2023. The split was finalized in court in September 2023.
Initially, Amy Slaton Halterman and her ex agreed to split custody of their two sons. However, it now seems like Michael might earn full custody, at least temporarily.
It is also unclear how Amy’s arrest will impact the TLC show. The network is known to axe people once they’ve gotten in trouble with the law, especially when it involves children. TLC has not issued a statement about the charges the 1000-Lb. Sisters star is facing.
