90 Day Fiance newcomer Chidi from Nigeria deals with much more than just attempting to eventually make it to America in TLC scenes. This new cast member is blind in both eyes, and the way that he lost his vision is both tragic and horrific. So, what do we know about how this happened to him?
90 Day Fiance: Chidi Is A New Cast Member From Nigeria
As longtime TLC fans know, Nigeria was put on the 90 Day Fiance map, thanks to cast members like Michael Ilesanmi and Usman Umar. Both Michael and Usman eventually left their relationships that they started on the show, with Michael’s split from Angela Deem as ugly and as dramatic as it gets.
Based on the latest 90 Day Fiance updates, Nigeria has a new player in the arena who is looking for love, a man named Chidi. TLC fans are just getting to know Chidi, as well as a fresh batch of cast members, and already, there is a lot of drama to dig into.
TLC Celeb Lost His Vision In Horrific Way
For a lot of people, a stroke of bad luck leaves them with a significant impairment that they have to adjust to. In some cases, car accidents can leave people paralyzed, without limbs, and more. However, in Chidi’s case, he suffered not one, but two separate accidents that left him blind.
In the first incident, when he was a late teen, his friend climbed a tree, which led to an apple falling and hitting Chidi in his right eye. It not only fell, but sliced. He described the pain as “excruciating,” and understandably so. At this point, it was certainly possible to live with vision in just one eye. Unfortunately for Chidi, his ordeal was not over yet.
Because of the “impairment” from the first eye, Chidi eventually fell and hit his other eye, resulting in blindness in both. Many 90 Day Fiance fans feel for Chidi. It would be one thing for a freak accident like this to happen once. However, the fact that two separate situations took an eye and made him blind is pulling at the heartstrings of a lot of people.
90 Day Fiance: Chidi Found Love With American Woman, Can They Make It Work?
It turns out, Chidi found love with an American woman from New Mexico named Rayne. While navigating this kind of relationship is already a tough thing, whether or not Chidi’s blindness will ultimately impact their relationship in a negative way is still up in the air.

Despite his obstacles, Chidi does not let his situation keep him from doing the things he wants to do in life. As he navigates his relationship with Rayne in upcoming scenes, many 90 Day Fiance fans are already rooting for him.
