Kate Mansi Hints At ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Return?
Kate Mansi is in the middle of a front burner storyline on General Hospital that could very well earn her another Daytime Emmy. She previously won Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2017 for her role as Abigail Deveraux on Days Of Our Lives. The actress seemed to hint at a return to her old role in a new interview.
Kate Mansi Reveals What Lured Her To General Hospital
Soap fans are familiar with Kate Mansi for her time playing Abigail Deveraux on Days Of Our Lives. She played the legacy character from 2011 until 2016. Marci Miller took over the role in 2016 until 2018, when Kate Mansi decided to return. She left again in 2020 and Marci Miller once again reprised the role and was playing the character when Abigail was stabbed to death in 2022.
It was announced in early 2023 that Kate Mansi was joining General Hospital in the role of Kristina Davis. The role was previously played by Lexi Ainsworth for nearly 15 years. The show never explained the decision to recast the role.
Kate Mansi was recently featured in Women’s World magazine. She shared more insight into why she decided to return to soaps and take on the role of Kristina.
“Our executive producer Frank Valentini said, ‘This storyline has to do with endometriosis and surrogacy, and you’ll be an LGBTQIA+ plus character. He also said it would be a very juicy couple of years of huge, heavy-hitting story. I was like, ‘I’m sold. I don’t need to know anything else,’ because I knew these were stories I’d be honored to tell.”
Actress Confesses Kristina Davis Is ‘Exhausting’
Kristina recently lost the baby she carrying as a surrogate for her sister, Molly (Kristen Vaganos.) She formed a strong bond with the baby and even planned to seek custody. Kristina recently found herself in some legal trouble when Jagger (Adam J. Harrington) arrested her for manslaughter after the baby’s death. However, it seems that was taken care of by Sonny (Maurice Benard) in the latest GH episode.
During her chat with Women’s World, Kate Mansi revealed that she often works 12-hour days with nearly a hundred pages of dialogue. “Kristina’s exhausting me,” she confessed. She added that she loves every minute of it.
But she also misses Abigail Deveraux.
Teases ‘More Story To Play’ On Days Of Our Lives
Over on Days Of Our Lives, Abigail is the center of a ‘back from the dead’ storyline, except it’s not really Abigail. Actress AnnaLynne McCord is playing the mystery woman who is pretending to be Abigail Deveraux.
Many fans think the real Abigail will return soon, but will Kate Mansi or Marci Miller play her? Kate Mansi said that she loved playing Abigail and it was hard to let the character go. She added that there is “a lot more to play” with Abigail.
But it seems unlikely that she will leave General Hospital to return to Days.
