‘Y&R’ Melissa Claire Egan Dishes On Chelsea & Adam’s Affair
Melissa Claire Egan has revealed some details about the current storyline involving Chelsea on The Young and the Restless. Chelsea and Adam (played by Mark Grossman) have crossed boundaries. Apparently, Melissa was eager to see it happen. Keep reading to see how she helped manipulate the story.
Chelsea & Adam Shock Fans With Cheating Scandal
Right now, Y&R fans are watching the aftermath of Chelsea and Adam’s affair unfold. The duo had a one-night stand in Baltimore, but it has been eating away at Chelsea. So, she decided to come clean with Billy (Jason Thompson).
As a result of Chelsea’s conscience eating away at her, Adam also had to fess up. He told Sally (Courtney Hope) about the one-time fling.
Fans are currently watching this play out on the CBS soap. However, they may not know that Melissa Claire Egan tried to pull some strings to make this happen.
Melissa, Mark, Courtney, and Jason all get along famously. The group began even closer as they dealt with Connor’s (Judah Mackey) OCD diagnosis. They have a great dynamic on and off the screen, but Melissa was aware that something needed to happen to make the story with the foursome more interesting.
Melissa Claire Egan Asked For The Cheating Storyline
The Young and the Restless actress revealed that she actually asked for the cheating scandal to happen on the show.
“I voice messaged our Head Writer, Josh Griffith, who’s a genius, and he doesn’t need my help. I was like, ‘Hey, I feel like maybe Chelsea and Adam get drunk, and she’s upset. Then, all of a sudden they start kissing, and one thing leads to another, and they’re just in the throes of their despair!’” she told Daytime Confidential.
Melissa continued, “He just writes back, ‘That’s already happening!’ So, I was excited, because I love these couples together, but it is so sad and destructive!”
The Y&R star was eager for the shakeup. Melissa Claire Egan knew that the group of talented actors would be able to pull the storyline off, but she also thought that they might be able to put a spin on it. There’s a chance it won’t play out like previous cheating scandals we’ve seen on the soap.
Since the scandal has played out on television, fans of The Young and the Restless have been sounding off on social media. Many people just wanted to see Adam and Sally happy. They just got back together. Not to mention, Chelsea is supposed to be Sally’s friend.
Melissa Claire Egan went on to hint at a more complex storyline with this cheating storyline. In all honesty, both characters (Chelsea and Sally) are quick to scrap. So, when they finally come face-to-face things could get heated.
“They’re both not wallflowers and don’t like being betrayed. So, we’ve shot a lot of really good stuff. It’s been a ton of fun,” Melissa said.
The fallout from the one-night stand is far from over. Viewers will have to tune in to see how the storyline plays out.
