‘AGT’ Howie Mandel Slammed By Fans For Mistake On Live Show
America’s Got Talent fans are dragging Howie Mandel online after he made a mistake during Tuesday’s live show. The AGT judge mixed up two popular country artists, sending viewers at home reeling. He has since responded to the incident. Continue reading to see what he has to say.
Howie Mandel Makes Embarrassing Mistake
Dee Dee Simon performed a beautiful rendition of “Lose Control” on Tuesday’s episode of America’s Got Talent. It was the third round of Quarterfinals and she absolutely nailed it.
When it came to Howie Mandel to provide Dee Dee with feedback, he told her she “knocked his shoes off.” What he had to say next it what sent viewers over the edge.
Howie failed to credit the right artist for the song. He confused the original artist Teddy Swims with Jelly Roll.
“I gotta tell you something. I would imagine Jelly Roll is gonna be posting that,” Howie told the AGT contestant. “You made him proud. You made it your own.”
Viewers took to X to call Howie out almost immediately. “Can someone please explain to @howiemandel the difference between @JellyRoll615 and @TeddySwims. That was embarrassing, Howie,” one person wrote.
A second fan tweeted, “Did Howie Mandel say that Lose Control was by Jellyroll? Uh….Teddy Swims is who did that song.” Another viewer quipped, “Damn I didn’t know Jelly Roll and Teddy Swims sang the same song.”
One person called him out and said that he should “give credit where credit is due.”
Howie Mandel took responsibility for the slip-up. Responding to one fan, he wrote, “I know the difference and I’m embarrassed.” He replied to another, “I made a mistake. Love them both.” Once again, admitting his wrongdoing he wrote, “I love Teddy. I blew it.”
Howie’s mix-up aside, all of the judges loved Dee Dee’s performance. Heidi Klum wound up hitting the Golden Buzzer and sending her straight to the finals.
AGT Judge Feud Between Howie & Simon Cowell
This isn’t the only time Howie Mandel has caused problems since AGT picked back up. He accused fellow judge Simon Cowell of stealing his Golden Buzzer act.
Audiences at the live show saw Howie raging at Simon for hitting the buzzer for Airfootworks. “I am just about to get myself fired,” Simon said. Then Howie went to hit the buzzer at the same time, yelling at Simon for stealing it from him.
The bickering continued backstage. They had several promotional interviews to conduct backstage and Howie laid into Simon again.
“Why did you pick my act? You tried to steal my Golden Buzzer,” he said. Simon ignored him and Howie wound up standing in front of him during group photos with the other AGT judges.
“I didn’t know Simon was going to go for it. Then I was just listening to him and he goes, I’m going to get in trouble for this,” Howie said.”And he started standing up and I went, no. And I got there right in time because my reflexes are like that of a, I’m actually 68, but I have the reflexes of a 63-year-old.”
Fellow AGT judge Heidi Klum responded to the drama, saying that Simon Cowell could “do what he wanted.” After all, he’s the boss. In the end, host Terry Crews shared that Howie would be given the Golden Buzzer Act.
