Singer Lily Allen was talking on her podcast, Miss Me?, and she said something that made a lot of fans mad. Lily uses the podcast to keep in touch with her fans and to let them behind the scenes of her life. However, there was one thing she maybe should have not shared. Once she did, it resulted in some death threats.

Here is what Lily Allen said and why it resulted in some death threats.

Lily Allen Gives Up Adopted Puppy

On the podcast episode, Lily Allen was telling the story of a dog she had adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, despite telling the long and detailed story of what happened with the dog, some bloggers ran with the comment that the dog ate her passports so she “took her back to the home.”

This was not the full story, but for people who only read that clip, it took on a life of its own. It also didn’t help that PETA jumped in and bashed her. When Lily tried to defend herself against PETA’s allegations, the animal rights group began to find other things to bash her for.

However, here is Lily Allen’s story of what happened with the dog.

Lily mentioned on her podcast that she adopted the puppy, Mary, during the pandemic. However, she said that the dog was “very badly behaved.” She continued, “I really tried very hard with her, but it just didn’t work out, and the passports was the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak.”

Mary had chewed up her and her kids’ passports. This caused them to not get to travel to see the kids’ dad in the U.K. for months as she tried to get them replaced. According to Lily, that was when she realized she couldn’t keep the dog anymore.

The singer said the dog had severe separation anxiety issues, which made them a poor match for the dog’s own well-being. Lily then took the puppy back to where she got her. The shelter then helped rehome the puppy to a new family.

Fans Make Death Threats To Lily Allen

Unfortunately, people began sending her hateful comments for giving up the puppy. Most people believed it was only because of the passport incident. They never listened to the podcast and just saw bits about the passport on social media.

Things got worse when PETA blasted Lily on Twitter for giving up the dog for just chewing up the passport. Lily called them out for helping spread disinformation. However, they changed their tone and blasted her for giving up the dog period. They ignored the fact that she worked to help rehome it, claiming she ruined the dog’s life. When PETA got involved, many supporters began to send Lily death threats.

“I’ve received some really abhorrent messages including death threats, some of the most disgusting comments have been all over my social media channels, and I’m really not surprised because this is exactly what those articles are designed to do,” Allen said.

“We couldn’t meet Mary’s needs and her happiness and welfare were central to us making that decision, as difficult as it was.”
