Jeff Probst Talks About Survivor 50 Cast List

Fans are patiently awaiting for Survivor 47 to air this fall on CBS. However, that hasn’t stopped them and Jeff Probst from looking forward to a huge milestone for the show.

Survivor 50 will likely air in the spring of 2026, but it will be different from previous seasons. The host previously revealed that alums would come back to celebrate the 50th season.

Season 40 was the last time fans got to see alums come together to compete. Survivor 40 (Winners At War) had former winners return for a chance at $2 million. Since then, viewers have only seen new players on the reality TV show.

Recently, Jeff Probst opened up about the process of putting together the perfect cast list. “We’re trying to figure out who’s gonna play in Survivor 50. We know it’s gonna be returning players,” he said in an interview with Variety.

However, putting together the cast for Season 50 isn’t the only thing on Jeff’s mind. “I’m in post-production on 47, in pre-production on 49; I’m starting casting on 49, and then we have 50 coming up this year, so that’s a bigger thing,” he said. “Then we also have the podcast that we’re doing. It’s a year-round job.”

He is almost always involved in something Survivor-related. Even though Season 50 is fairly far out, they have already started compiling a list of people they’d like to see on the show again.

Producers Have Narrowed It Down To 100 People

At first, they started with a list of about 200 people. It was compiled of many fan-favorite players, former winners, and those with unfinished business. Anyone who producers enjoyed seeing on the show made the first list.

“And then we got the list down to 125 and now I have it down to around 100,” Jeff revealed. “I printed out their faces on 4×6 magnetic sheets with their names, the season they first played, and how old they will be if they play in 50.” The Survivor host‘s main goal is to give fans the best 50th season possible.

Obviously, there can’t be 100 players, so they will have to narrow it down. There is also the chance that some of the alums they are considering will turn down the opportunity.

For now, we will have to wait for an official cast list. Jeff Probst isn’t even letting out any hints as to who the 100 alums are. While fans wait to hear what’s in store for Survivor 50, they will still have three more new seasons to watch.

Although Survivor is currently on hiatus, you can stream past seasons of the reality show on Paramount+.

Survivor 47 premieres on CBS on September 18, 2024. Season 48 is expected to premiere sometime in the spring.
