‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood Has Sweet Reunion With Leah
Teen Mom star Amber Portwood has a sweet reunion with her teenage daughter, Leah Shirley after months apart. Amber claims that she has made an effort to be in Leah’s life but she has been encouraged to do more. With adoption on the table, everyone is trying to do their best to ensure Amber is doing okay. Teen Mom Amber Portwood Has Sweet Reunion With Leah
Amber Portwood has struggled to connect with her teenage daughter, Leah for some time now. Leah does not feel Amber is there for her in the way that she needs. So much so that she wants her stepmother, Kristina to adopt her. This is something that makes sense as Kristina has always been by her side. Now that Leah is fifteen, she needs a stable female figure and that is everything Kristina has been and continues to be. Unfortunately, Amber is not comfortable with this idea in any capacity.
Her co-stars, Maci Bookout and Catelyn Lowell learned about the adoption plans after Amber’s ex, Gary Shirley spilled them on the guys’ trip. Tyler Baltierra told Cate and she chatted with Maci Bookout about it. Their biggest concern was Amber’s mental health. They did come to see Amber and sat down to speak with Gary who confirmed she knew. Now, in a sweet twist, she and Leah did reunite, according to Us Weekly. In the Thursday, August 22nd episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Gary and Kristina held a family barbecue to which Amber was invited.

The idea was Amber Portwood could see her daughter but it was stress-free because it was not just them, as Gary told Maci and Cate:
“It’s been seven months. This is the easiest way for [Leah] to see her mom. It’s less pressure for Leah because she’s not coming over to see Leah.”
Amber brought her then-boyfriend, Gary Wayt and he got to meet everyone. More so, it was her birthday so she was thrilled to get to spend it with Leah and her man:
“This was an amazing birthday. I’m happy that you guys finally got to meet him. I had a lot of fun, honestly. I miss you guys so I want to start doing this more often if we can. I’d love to spend more time with you [Leah] and all of you guys. I love you guys. I love you butt head and I miss you.”

Since Catelynn Lowell and Maci Bookout were in town, they attended the family barbecue. Their presence helped Amber Portwood set up another date with Leah:
“I really appreciated the fact that Maci and Cate really wanted to give me such amazing advice for me to actually get my family back. When I saw my daughter, it was like butterflies. I couldn’t be any happier honestly.”
At the beginning of the season, Amber was late to Leah’s birthday dinner and then proceeded to insult her when she did not want to hear about the new boyfriend. Fans and co-stars were angered by her behavior toward her daughter and could not believe she would speak to her in such a way.
