There have been five people arrested in connection to the death of Matthew Perry. The Friends star died on October 28, 2023, from the “acute effects of ketamine.” Now, more details about his final moments are being made public. The actor’s final words were absolutely heartbreaking.

Matthew Perry’s Final Words Killed Him

Perry’s live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, found the actor unresponsive in his hot tub last October. At first, it appeared the actor drowned. However, his autopsy later revealed that he had ketamine in his system at the time of death.

Although Matthew Perry was undergoing ketamine therapy, his last infusion was more than a week before his death. Ketamine is typically out of your system within a few hours. When this was discovered, authorities kickstarted an investigation into a Hollywood drug ring.

Now, five individuals have been charged in connection to Perry’s death. His assistant, Kenny Iwamasa, is among the people who are facing prison time. In newly released court documents, Iwamasa revealed the actor’s last words.

According to Iwamasa, the Friends star asked for him to help him shoot up three times that day. The first time was at 8:30 a.m., then again at 12:45 p.m. Forty minutes later, Perry asked Iwamasa to “shoot me up with a big one.” Those unfortunately were the last words he’d say to anyone.

Iwamasa reportedly left to run some errands for the actor. When he returned, he found him in the hot tub dead.

Friends & Family ‘Blindsided’ By Iwamasa’s Arrest

In the five days leading up to his death, Iwamasa administered 27 ketamine injections to the actor. He was instructed by a doctor on how to give the shots, but did not have any medical training.

Matthew Perry’s assistant is among the five individuals who have been indicted on federal charges. He has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death and has submitted a plea agreement. He is facing up to 15 years in prison.

In addition to Iwamasa, Dr. Mark Chavez and Dr. Salvador Plasencia are both facing charges for supplying the ketamine. Two drug dealers Erik Fleming and Jasveen Sangha (also know as the “Ketamine Queen“) are being charged as well. Plasencia and Sangha have yet to submit a plea deal. However, the other three individuals being charged have submitted plea agreements.

Friends and family of Matthew Perry were heartbroken and “blindsided” by his assistant’s arrest. A source told Us Weekly, “Matthew kept secrets. I wouldn’t be shocked if Kenny was the only one who knew how bad it really was.”

Even though Perry was open about his past struggles with addiction, he was actively trying to keep his ketamine use under wraps. In his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, he spoke about ketamine.

“Ketamine was a very popular street drug in the 1980s. There is a synthetic form of it now,” he wrote. Ultimately, the actor said that he used it to “ease pain and help with depression.” It was something different and, for a short period, he seemed to think it was helping him.
