‘America’s Got Talent’ Alum Dies In Tragic Hit And Run

America’s Got Talent is mourning the loss of one of its former contestants. Comedian Perry Kurtz has passed away at the age of 72. He was a victim of a hit-and-run accident. Continue reading for details about the accident and what authorities are doing to find out what happened.

Perry Kurtz’s Longtime Friend Shares News Of His Death

Kurtz was killed in Tarzana, California. He was on Ventura Boulevard crossing the street. Reports from the Los Angeles Police Department say that a gray Honda Civic hit him and continued driving.

The comedian’s longtime friend and manager Dante Rusciolelli issued a statement to People. He wrote, “Rest in peace Perry Kurtz. Golden Artists Entertainment and myself are devastated by this news. Perry was not only a client, he’s been my friend since 1987. He has been a staple in the Los Angeles comedy community for decades and will be missed.”

Rusciolelli finished the statement writing, “Our prayers are with his family.”

According to police reports, the hit-and-run happened around 11:30 p.m. When the ambulance arrived on the scene, the America’s Got Talent alum was pronounced dead. The suspect fled the area immediately after the accident and wasn’t seen anywhere when authorities arrived.

An arrest in relation to Perry Kurtz’s death was made on Friday morning. Nathon Jaimes, 18, was charged with a felony hit-and-run resulting in death.

“The hit-and-run vehicle was located abandoned not far from the scene of the collision,” the LAPD said in a press release.

At this time, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner has not determined the AGT alum’s cause of death. Further details will become available following an autopsy.

America’s Got Talent Didn’t Work Out For Perry

America’s Got Talent fans may remember Perry Kurtz from Season 8. He was voted off fairly quickly after performing a rap about the judges. Kurtz also appeared on The Late Late Show With James Corden and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

Kurtz’s career kicked off when he started performing improv in San Francisco. He performed alongside the late Robin Williams. Eventually, he moved to L.A. where he became a regular performer at the Comedy Store in Hollywood.

He remained active on social media and his YouTube channel up until his death. The comedian’s most recent video was posted five days before his death. It was a three-minute video of the comedian singing “I’ll Always Remember Us This Way.” He was performing in a live music bar called The Barrel Tavern in Sherman Oaks, California.

Many of his most recent video updates put his musical abilities on display. There have been several stand-up sets shared on his YouTube channel as well.
