‘Big Brother’ Producers Respond To Angela Murray Rumors

Angela Murray on Big Brother (1)

The Big Brother production team has heard the whispers about Angela Murray. Some viewers have suggested that the BB 26 house villain is a network plant. Producers on the show have addressed the rumors in a recent interview. Here is what they revealed.

Executive Producers Talk About Angela Murray Theories

Executive producer Rich Meehan spoke with Deadline about the theory that Angela Murray is a CBS plant. “She’s been so fun to watch, so unexpected. With all those things, I don’t necessarily blame people for wondering, because it’s been surprising and shocking along the way,” he said. “But it is always funny, the conspiracy theories that are out there.”

Fellow EP on Big Brother, Allison Grodner, backed Rich’s claims that Angela wasn’t placed on the show by the production team. However, she thought that it could be a “good idea” for future seasons. What a twist that would be!

Shortly after the season 26 premiere, conspiracy theories surrounding Angela started circulating on the internet. Fans uncovered that she previously appeared on two other CBS shows, The Price Is Right and Dr. Phil.

Allison pointed out that CBS produces a “ton of shows.” She continued, “I don’t think because she was on The Price is Right and in a Dr. Phil episode makes her necessarily an actor.” Rich agreed, saying that competition reality TV shows are “very different from a fun game show.”

Angela Has Been The Center Of Drama On Big Brother 26

Even though Angela Murray hasn’t appeared on other reality television shows, she has been at the center of all the Big Brother drama this season. She won the first Head of Household (HoH) competition and has sparked several feuds with other houseguests. Many viewers think she has been problematic, calling her a bully, and even pushing her to be fired from her job.

Specifically, she stood on the stairs, speaking to the others in the house, and called Matt Hardeman out. Angela said that he was a “brat” and gave him a cruel nickname of “crazy eyes.” Ultimately, Matt wound up being the first player to be evicted in Season 26.

“I think Matt made some mistakes in terms of that conversation he had [with Angela in the HOH room], but I think there’s no doubt that she was a bit extreme, calling him out,” Allison said, referring to the feud between Angela and Matt. “Then again, the house does get the best of you. There’s paranoia in that house always, and she succumbed to it, for sure.”

During Week 2, Angela found herself on the chopping block. Somehow, she avoided elimination, and instead, Lisa Weintraub was evicted. The next week, Angela was put up for eviction again but was saved when Tucker Des Lauriers used his Power of Veto to protect her.

“Obviously we like to think we built the structure with some of the twists and powers and all of that,” Allison reflected on the first few weeks in the house. “But in the end, who could predict Angela walking down the stairs, the Angela and Matt thing, and Tucker’s audacity? Those are surprises and good ones at that.”

Viewers can see what happens this week on Big Brother tonight at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
