Casting Call Sparks Speculation Of A Lulu Recast
General Hospital sparked a flurry of speculation surrounding Lulu Spencer recently. The legacy character has been in a coma off-screen since 2020. But with news that Jonathan Jackson was returning to the soap as her big brother, fans hoped Lulu would finally wake up.
A recent episode randomly featured Lulu’s mother, Laura, and ex-husband Dante visited her hospital room. The role was most recently played by Emme Rylan. She played the role from 2013 until 2020. Fans have been wondering if she would return to play Lulu or perhaps fan-favorite Julie Marie Berman.
But it seems the show has other plans. TV Insider posted earlier today that the show was rumored to be recasting the role. The outlet shared a casting call that went out that seemed to match Lulu, though the character was listed as “Lauren.”
“GH has put out a call for the character of “Lauren,” who is described as 34 to 40 years old and a blonde, white woman. Lauren is described as beautiful, dynamic, and fiery (three characteristics that fit Lulu quite well). The character has overcome challenging circumstances and is now stronger and more determined than ever.”

The casting call sparked major speculation of a recast with multiple outlets reporting the news. Actress Emme Rylan took to her Instagram Story to respond to an article from ABC Soaps In Depth.
She revealed that the rumors were true. She isn’t returning to General Hospital and the show was recasting the role. “Yes it is true. GH has decided to recast Lulu,” she wrote.
She added that she was “disappointed” but was glad to have “closure” after years of speculation about her return. The news seemed to confirm fan speculation that Lulu is waking up from her coma soon. Could her dad, Luke Spencer, be right behind her? Luke “died” in 2022, but anything is possible on soaps!
Shades The Show As ‘Poison’?
Emme Rylan may have been a touch more than disappointed by General Hospital‘s decision to recast Lulu Spencer. She shared two shady quotes on her Instagram story before confirming the recast news.
The first quote said that the “only change closure you need is understanding that you deserve better.” Interesting, considering her later comment about getting closure.
The second cryptic quote talks about how God removing someone from the table where the host was serving them “poison.”
While the quotes could have been about anything, the timing is certainly suspicious.

I think it’s terrible how the producers, directors and writers crush actors aspirations to continue a role. How can they bring Lulu back with another name. Then it isn’t Lulu. The way GH has been changing story lines that doesn’t make sense. It really is crazy.
Emme is the best !!!! Why in the world would they want to recast this role when it’s already fillet by Emme I think I’m done here as are many others think twice before recasting

Really what are they doing. Recasting and firing all the people that we are used to and they became family. We were all hoping lulu would come back but not as someone else. Rylan is the one!!!!!!!
I’m so disappointed to hear they are not going to bring Emme Rylan back. I’ve been hoping they would ask this time. I think it’s a mistake to recast. I really believed they would bring Emme back as Lulu.

gh might as well fold, they fire good actors and bring in new ones that suck. Kristina should definitely go by by, take her sister too. those two replacements are terrible, I even heard they are getting rid of avas character, bring back emme she is the best , fire all the writers and producers heck a blind dog could write a better show, I’ve watched gh since day one, but that’s when writers were good. leave ava alone and lulu I think they are trying to cancel gh, doing a good job of it. oh yeah send Drew and Nina to the north pole anywhere but gh. you keep the terrible and fire the best
Please bring back Emme Rylan as Lulu,She has been gone a long time. There is nobody better to fill her part. Please don’t change her name to Lauren, that would not make any sense at all.
GH writers are doing a great job compared to how stupid and rediculous Days writers are! So sorry to hear about Emme though!
Keep Emme in the LuLu role. She has the right look and spice for that character and she’s put her spin on it. We miss her in the role. Don’t mess with it if it’s working. And while you are at it, please develop Jason’s role into something more than warehouse supervisor. This crap with Sony had gone on too long. Re-unite the old friends and give them a common foe to fight – not each other.
It took me a while to get used to Emme after Julie Berman left but she woke me over and they definitely should bring her back…. No one else!!
I think that they had an amazing Lulu who they should have called knowing she wanted to come back to that role. Why recast someone else? So you can pay her less? Because it’s ridiculous not to to not ask her to come back to the roll.

Did you even try to negotiate with her?This show is going down quick all the build up to bring Jason back and you have done nothing with him. Let him and Carly hit the sheets they both need a love interests what are you waiting for? This is a soap opera where is the love? Get Trina and the sexy Gio together. Spencer ain’t coming back. Let Trina love again with no guilt! He’ll Ava is the only character getting any love in the sheets her and agent Cates(another recast I will never understand you had Antonio Sabbato Jr. ! A Greek sex God in the flesh) are a hot couple.Speaking of Ava if you get rid of this devilish diva I’m gone! GH need a villianess we love to hate..Ava is the best I love Maureen West fire her I’m done! Also speaking of recasts why have you not looked for a Luke Spencer look a like surly there is some curly haired guy out there that resembles Anthony Geary..who has no intention of leaving Amsterdam.With Holly ( Emma Samns )coming back that would be the perfect time to bring Luke home. he could have been held by a still Alive Helena Cassidine …that old bird has faced her death a thousand times.Come on GH bring back the magic that made GH a must watch show!
