‘LIVE’ Kelly Ripa Says Goodbye To Beloved Employee
Kelly Ripa had a special moment for one of her long-time staff members on a recent episode of Live with Kelly and Mark. The moment happened during a popular segment, which Kelly changed up to honor her friend and employee. Here is what you need to know, and what happened in the episode.
Kelly Ripa Honors Retiring Long-Time Employee On Live
One of Kelly Ripa’s longest-tenured employees on Live with Kelly and Mark is retiring. Art Moore has worked on every iteration of Live with… since 1983. This means he has been with the show since it began, and was called The Morning Show (with Regis Philbin and Cyndy Garvey).
Art Moore is the Vice President of Programming at WABC-TV and has been with ABC for 53 years. He is a multi-Emmy award winner. He has been in charge of production for Live with Kelly and Mark and has held this role on the different iterations of the show for 36 seasons.
After The Morning Show, the series changed to Live with Regis and Kathie Lee from 1988–2000. After Regis went along from 2000 to 2001, Kelly Ripa joined the show in 2001, and it was Live with Regis and Kelly until 2011. It became Live with Kelly and Michael from 2012 to 2016 when Michael Strahan joined the show. From 2017 to 2023, it was Live with Kelly and Ryan with Ryan Seacrest. She has been working with her husband, Mark Consuelos, since 2023.
Art Moore has been there the entire time. “Art is the reason, I say it all the time and I mean it, he is the reason I am here and have stayed here for all these years,” Kelly said on the episode when Moore announced he was planning to retire (via ABC).
How Did Kelly Ripa Honor Art Moore?
There is a fun segment on Live with Kelly and Mark called “Stump Mark.” This last week, the segment changed its name to “Stump Mark: Art Moore Edition.” This was to honor Moore and pay tribute to his time on the show.
David Boreanaz was the guest on the show, but this wasn’t to talk about his upcoming season of SEAL Team. Instead, this was a special moment since David is Art’s nephew and godson. He was there for his Uncle Art. David played “Stump Mark: Art Moore Edition” with Mark. The rules state that Mark has to figure out which of two statements is true.
The first comment was that Uncle Art would take him to the five and dine store in his Lincoln Continental. The second was that, after parties, Uncle Art would stay late to talk and gossip. Mark guessed the five-and-dime store, and he was wrong. David won a Live mug and a t-shirt with Mark on the front and Kelly on the back.
