Bachelor Nation fans think the franchise needs a major overhaul. One way to shake up the show would have the next Bachelor be one of the show’s villains. Keep reading for more on the idea.

Bachelor Nation Fans Bored By Format

If you’re a Bachelor Nation viewer and feel like every season follows the same format, you’re not alone. Every season seems to feature the same date activities in a different location. Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette immediately left the U.S. to film overseas, but that hasn’t been enough to keep viewers interested, especially with the nail-biting Olympics airing at the same time.

Jenn’s season took a dramatic turn in the last episode when one of her ex-boyfriends showed up in New Zealand to beg for a second chance. However, not even that is a fresh idea in the 20+ year franchise. Nick Viall showed up in the fourth episode of Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season. Blake Moynes hijacked Katie Thurston’s season.

While it worked out in those cases, viewers will have to tune in tonight to find out if Jenn Tran lets her ex join her season.

Could The Next Bachelor Be One Of The Franchise’s Villains?

Another constant in the Bachelor franchise is every season having a villain. It’s a tie on Season 21 between Devin Strader and Sam McKinney. Sometimes the villain ends up winning, such as Jake Pavelka proposing to Vienna Girardi.

However, very rarely has ABC cast a villain in the lead role on Bachelor or Bachelorette. Instead, villains are cast off to Bachelor In Paradise for more antics, or redemption, such as in the case of Brayden Bowers.

With Bachelor In Paradise not returning until 2025, Screen Rant proposed casting a villain as the next lead and we agree. The move would shake up the franchise that’s been airing religiously since 2005.

So far, Jenn Tran’s season alone has provided several possible candidates. But if the network looks hard enough, they’d find viable villains from several recent Bachelorette seasons.

ABC tends to choose leads that are popular and seen as ‘good.’ Many fans think Joey Graziadei was the best Bachelor in recent history. While a villain may not be popular, Bachelor Nation fans would likely tune in anyway.

What do you think about the idea of the network turning the traditional format upside down and casting a villain as the next lead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Season 29 of The Bachelor will air sometime in 2025.
