‘Unexpected’ Dakwon Clarifies Relationship With Aniyah’s Mom
Unexpected Season 6 newcomer Dakwon is clarifying his relationship status with Aniyah’s mother, Ashley. Fans were not happy with her after she essentially booted him from the delivery room. So, are they on good terms or is he over her antics? Keep reading for more details.
Unexpected Dakwon Clarifies Relationship With Aniyah’s Mom
The birth of your first child is something that is supposed to be magical and exciting. However, for Unexpected stars Aniyah, and Dakwon, it was anything but. Aniyah found out she had Covid as she was set to give birth which meant she could only have one person in the delivery room. Being a minor, as she was just seventeen, decisions had to be made. Her mother, Ashley decided she would be in the room and the baby daddy, Dakwon, could exit. On the one hand, it made sense as Aniyah is a minor so her mother could help make any life-altering decisions. By the same token, should Dakwon have to miss the birth of his first (and possibly only) baby?
Fans were immediately angered by Ashley’s actions, mainly because they did not think she could care for Aniyah as Dakwon would have. More so, they found her cold and lacking compassion:
- Ashley didn’t give a sh*t about comforting her own daughter during delivery. Aniyah deserves better.
- She reached Jason level when she rolled her eyes and called her daughter dramatic when Aniyah said she could die from preeclampsia
- I was getting so angry watching her treat that boy the way she did and kick him out of seeing his child enter the world. He can never get that moment back.
Despite all that went down, how does Dakwon feel about Ashley? He took to social media to clear it up and it seems he is just fine with her.

The Unexpected star does not feel like he missed out on a thing by not being in the delivery room. Yet, fans are more frustrated with the way that Ashley handled the situation than anything else.
Reflecting Back
After seeing this statement from Dakwon, Unexpected fans had mixed emotions. On the one hand, they applauded what a stand-up man he was for letting it go. Yet, on the other side, viewers could not forgive the behavior of Aniyah’s mom. They found her to be cruel and only playing for the cameras when she needed to look like a good Church-going woman:
- That woman knew exactly what she took from you. On camera or off camera she comes off controlling as h*ll and should learn how to show unconditional love.
- You’re a standup guy.
- You and her mom are real cool now because you’re not with her daughter anymore..
- The fact he’s saying this, shows what a good guy he is cause she most definitely took his spot
It was suggested that he could have stayed in the delivery room and if anything went wrong, Ashley could have been outside to sign off and assist. Then, comments came up about Dakwon being cool with Ashley because he and Aniyah had broken up. Yes, the two are no longer together so maybe it is easier for him to deal with Ashley since he does not have to follow her rules. Time will tell if his opinion changes but for now, they are fine.
