Donna Mills Had a Spectacular Career In Television
For those who remember Donna from her small screen appearances, it is hard to believe that she is 83. She recently reunited with her Knots Landing costars, Michele Lee and Joan Van Ark. Nearly 35 years after the soap ended, all three women seem to have barely aged a day.
Donna Mills got her start on television in 1966. She first appeared on the show The Secret Storm. Then, she landed her next gig on Broadway. She had a role in the Woody Allen play Don’t Drink The Water.
After her time on Broadway, she spent three years on the soap opera Love Is A Many Splendored Thing. This led her to play Clint Eastwood’s other half in the cult thriller classic Play Misty For Me.
Her career up until this point was fairly slow-moving. However, the next role she landed would define Donna Mills as a soap star. She became Abby Cunningham on Knots Landing. Donna played the role of Abby from 1980 until 1989.
The role helped her win the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Villainess three times. She brought home the award in 1986, 1988, and 1989 for her portrayal of Abby Cunningham on Knots Landing.
After her career on television took off, Donna Mills started to land different TV films. Some of her credits include The World’s Oldest Living Bridesmaid, The Stepford Husbands, and Dangerous Intentions.
What Has The Soap Star Been Up To Recently?
In 2014, she joined the world of soap operas once again. She embodied the role of Madeleine Reeves in General Hospital. The appearance landed her yet another award, bringing home the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Guest Performer in a Drama Series.
Most recently, Donna appeared in a Lifetime limited series called VC Andrews Dawn in 2023.

While marriage wasn’t in the cards for Donna, she adopted a newborn daughter in 1994. She largely stepped away from her career at the time to focus on raising her child.
