‘Mama June’ Lauryn Efird Surprising Divorce Settlement Revealed
Mama June Shannon’s daughter Lauryn Efird has reached a settlement in her divorce. Lauryn, also known as “Pumpkin,” filed for divorce on August 1. Now, the latest update revealed surprising details of the settlement between Lauryn and Josh Efird.
Josh & Lauryn Efird Settle Their Divorce Out Of Court
The August 1 filing stated that Josh and Lauryn Efird have been married since June 17, 2019. They were officially separated in July 2024. Since then, they have been living separately.
In the filing, Lauryn stated that she previously reached an agreement with her ex-husband before they moved forward with the divorce. According to Pumpkin, all problems related to divorce, custody, visitation, child support, and the division of property have already been agreed upon.
Josh and Lauryn share four children together. They have Ella, 7, Bentley, 3, and twins Sylus and Stella, 2. Apparently, they agreed to share joint legal and physical custody of the kids. The joint custody agreement ensures that neither Josh nor Lauryn have to pay child support. Instead, they will have to equally divide the expenses of the kids. That includes things like necessities, back-to-school expenses, medical costs, etc.
Court documents also addressed their rent-to-own home in Georgia. The document reads, “The contract for this transaction is currently in both names. The parties shall work together to remove the husband’s name from the contract, and the wife shall be responsible for all indebtedness on said property and shall hold the husband harmless.”
The exes will also be keeping their own cars in their names. They also awarded all banking and financial accounts to be split between the two individuals. However, the couple will both continue to manage their kid’s savings accounts. On top of that, both Josh and Lauryn Efird waived their rights to alimony. It seems like they both just wanted a quick and easy split. Who can blame them?
Mama June Continues To Battle For Custody Of Kaitlyn
Lauryn Efird isn’t the only one in the family going through a legal battle right now. Mama June Shannon has been fighting with her late daughter Anna Cardwell’s ex-husband, Michael.
As Mama June fans know, Anna died in December 2023, leaving behind two daughters. Kaitlyn, 11, has been the focus of a custody battle between June and Anna’s ex. Michael Cardwell is not the biological father of Kaitlyn, but he did father Anna’s other daughter (Kylee, 8).
At the time of her daughter’s death, June filed for emergency custody of Kaitlyn. Michael Cardwell has since filed his own case, asking for custody of Anna’s child. He stated that he raised Kaitlyn in his home for several years while he was married to Anna. He has also argued that Kaitlyn shouldn’t be separated from her sister.
In opposition to his custody request, June stated that Michael frequently abused Anna Cardwell and Kaitlyn during their relationship. “It would not be in the child’s best interests to be in [Michael’s] care and control,” June’s lawyer wrote in the filing.
Michael Cardwell has denied all abuse allegations. His lawyer stated, “This is the first time that any of these allegations have been made against him. He and Anna had a great relationship when they were married and simply separated due to differences in opinions and personalities.”
The court has not yet ruled on the custody of June’s granddaughter.
