Is ‘Millionaire’ Losing Its Edge By Dumbing Down Celebrity Questions?
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire fans wonder if the show is losing its edge. After watching a recent episode, some suspicions arose when a celebrity question seemed to be dumbed down. It was as if they were handing it to the players.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Fans Don’t Like The Show Direction
Lately, some Millionaire fans have discussed that the new direction of the show is disappointing. A familiar face, Jimmy Kimmel, returns to the stage to host the show again. However, many people believe that there is too much focus on celebrities instead of the average Joe getting their shot at taking home money.
- An X user says, “One big issue is the lack of regular non-celebrity contestants.” Further adding, “Bring back the real-life drama and life-changing storylines.”
- Another person weighs in, “So much of the show is sloppy and frankly, bad.” Then, adding examples, “Writing is rough. Questions have typos. Pacing is bad. Editing is very rough. Sound design is lacking. Feels rushed/no room to breathe. Forcing two games an hour removes any drama. It’s confusing how it turned into this.”
- Another discusses other changes they have noticed, “It feels so compressed like they won’t even let Jimmy talk to the contestants a little coming back from break.”
Is Millionaire Losing Its Edge By Dumbing Down Celebrity Questions?
In addition to noticing some of the format changes, Millionaire fans think it is losing its edge. During a recent episode with Sophia Bush and Alex Edelman, it looked so easy it seemed transactional. Likewise, the early questions didn’t give Sophia and Alex much of a problem, but the viewers were skeptical when they reached the $250,000 question that didn’t phase them at all. When the question came on screen Jimmy Kimmel said, “Ranked No. 2 on a Rolling Stone list of the best songs by fake bands, ‘Scotty Doesn’t Know’ is lip synced by Matt Damon in what raunchy teen comedy?” Before the contestants were the following options: A: Eurotrip, B: Hot Tub Time Machine, C: American Pie 2, and D: Van Wilder 2. Immediately, Alex knew, “It’s Eurotrip.”
Sophia agrees, “I think he’s right!” They go back and forth agreeing. Alex asserts, “I think that’s what prompts the Eurotrip.”
Fans Can’t Believe How Easy They Made The Question
Millionaire fans couldn’t believe that was a $ 250,000-level question. Seemingly, the show just lined it up for the taking.
- An X user says, “I get it… but lord are the questions on Celebrity Millionaire depressingly easy.”
- Someone else points out the quality is going down. Saying, “Scotty doesn’t know from Eurotrip for $250,000, lol this show has taken a nosedive.”
- However, one commenter on TikTok points out, “Weird to think that there’s a whole generation that doesn’t know that Scotty doesn’t know.”
Furthermore, Jimmy Kimmel jokes, “It’s funny, you guys either take a month or a minute to come up with your answer.” Although Sophia Bush and Alex Edelman didn’t struggle to get the $250,000 question, they didn’t snag the next level. However, the $500,000 question stumped them ending their run.
