‘DWTS’ Cameron Mathison Tried Avoiding One Pro Dancer
Although actor Cameron Mathison is more well-known for his soap roles, he once had a great run on Dancing With The Stars.
He might not have brought home the Mirrorball Trophy, but it seems that he thoroughly enjoyed his time on the show. But despite the great experience, Mathison recently revealed he desperately tried to avoid one specific professional dancer.
Cameron Mathison Begged Producers Not To Give Him One Specific Partner
As many former Dancing With The Stars competitors have, Cameron Mathison appeared on the Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans show with Cheryl Burke to discuss his time in the ballroom.
During the interview, he shared he did everything in his power to avoid partnering up with Edyta Sliwinska.
“I don’t know if Edyta knows this. I actually called Dina Katz,” the All My Children actor shared, referring to the DWTS casting director. “I said, ‘listen, I’m so happy that you’ve offered me the show. I can’t wait. I’m in. Just do me a favor. I’ll take, please put me with anybody but Edyta.”
Mathison went on to explain that he and his wife Vanessa were having a rough patch. On top of that, Edyta Sliwinska is an incredibly beautiful woman, leading Mathison to worry Vanessa would be jealous.
But as luck would have it, DWTS paired Cameron Mathison with Edyta Sliwinska anyway. They ultimately finished in fifth place out of 12 couples. Julianne Hough and Hélio Castroneves won the Mirrorball Trophy that year.
“She was a hero and she put up with me. Yeah, so we, I was shooting six episodes of All My Children in three days in New York. So, they would jam me up for when I was in New York and Edyta was there waiting for me, rehearsing in between scenes, we would rehearse in New York and then we would take basically red eyes both ways more or less. And it was a crazy, crazy schedule,” Mathison continued, adding that his dance partner never complained.
The Soap Star Went On To Divorce His Wife Anyway
Although Cameron Mathison desperately wanted to respect his wife’s feelings back in the day, problems still lingered.
As TV Shows Ace previously noted, Mathison and his wife Vanessa just publicly announced their split. The General Hospital actor stated they were parting ways after 22 years together. Even though it was a difficult decision, they’ve decided to amicably go their separate ways and continue putting their children first.
“We remain friends, and both wish the best for one another. We sincerely appreciate your respect for our family’s privacy during this transition,” the pair concluded the post.
