’The Tonight Show’ Jimmy Fallon On Forced Break, Why?
The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon is taking a break, whether anyone wants it to or not. So, why is the show going on hiatus? What is the reason for this?
The Tonight Show: Popular Late Night Show Has A Long History
Viewers have to go all the way back to the 1950s to remember the very first incarnation of The Tonight Show. It has become an integral part of people’s nightly routines, and a great way for many people to kick back and unwind after a hard day at work.
Since debuting in the 1950s, The Tonight Show has had six hosts, with Johnny Carson being the one holding the record for the longest tenure. Before passing the torch to current host, Jimmy Fallon, most people will remember Jay Leno as the host. Even Conan O’Brien had a very brief stint at the helm.
Jimmy Fallon Has Been Going Strong As The Host
Fallon has had The Tonight Show gig since 2014. While there were many people hoping for the job, it ultimately went to Fallon, and he has done a phenomenal job carrying the torch and keeping the legacy alive. Much like popular game shows, viewers take who captains the ship very seriously.
Jimmy Fallon has done his best to make the show his own over his tenure. Of course, when you step into a role like this, it comes with huge shoes to fill. So far, Fallon has done a great job doing just that. While many viewers hoped that Conan O’Brien could have had a longer tenure, most people have come to embrace Fallon in this role.
The Tonight Show Taking A Break, Why?
For any viewers used to winding down their nights with Jimmy Fallon and his special guests, they won’t be able to do that for a while, as the show is going on a short hiatus. Along with Jimmy Fallon’s program, Late Night With Seth Meyers will also be affected, as the shows will be on pause for about two weeks.
Before any loyal viewers panic too much, both shows will return to their regular schedule following this break. The reason for this pause is due to the 2024 Paris Olympics, as this event is taking center stage, as well as top priority.
As a bonus for Jimmy Fallon, not only does he get a break from his regular gig, but, he will also be able to flex his hosting chops during Olympic coverage, as he will sit in with Mike Tirico to host the closing ceremony in Paris. So, any Fallon fans already tuning in for the Olympics surely won’t want to miss this, either.
