Shannen Doherty Learned To Appreciate Beauty Before Death
It was nine years ago that Shannen Doherty was first diagnosed with cancer. Fortunately, she was able to beat cancer but it tragically returned and she was forced to fight all over again. Her determination and willpower have been admired. Fans who watched her from Little House On the Prairie to Beverly Hills, 90210 to Charmed admired her. They felt like she was a part of their family, a friend so to see her going through the unimaginable was really heartbreaking. Shannen had her own podcast, Let’s Be Clear, and she was extremely optimistic about this round of chemo.
The stars had aligned for her but sadly, she passed on July 13th, leaving her co-stars devastated and in mourning. However, before she died, she did the House of Halliwell podcast. According to People, it was there that she realized just how beautiful she was. She was rewatching Charmed and saw herself in a whole new light:
“You know what’s really interesting about going and rewatching these as a woman is, I was like, ‘God, I was really pretty back then.’ And we’re not even wearing a lot of makeup. Granted, we have really good lighting and everything else, but I was so thin.”
Shannen also noted how she was wrinkle-free back then, as well. At the same time, the nostalgia made her a tad wistful for her younger days:
“Youth is wasted on the young. I, one hundred percent, now that I’m 50, whatever I am, if somebody wants to do the math. I believe it now. Now is when I would really appreciate my looks and like the physique. I was so friggin skinny.”
She noted that cancer helped her lose weight but she added she was still not nearly as small as she was when she played Prue Halliwell.

Fans Remember Shannen
The House of Halliwell clip was posted on July 29th so Charmed fans were grateful to see Shannen Doherty once again. She was sitting with her former co-star, Holly Marie Combs and fans immediately flocked to the comment section. Charmed co-star, Rose McGowan even chimed in:
- Ahhh it’s so not real that she’s gone. I keep thinking I’ll see her in 2 weeks. It’s real but not real. Even at this late stage her beautiful mind so sharp, it never felt possible. Love seeing you all together. Family forever ❤️ Shannen always
One pointed out how great Shannen sounded that they forgot she was gone while others had this to say:
- This is so touching, seeing Shannen, she looked she had so much energy, that she had more time. 🤍😔🌹
- The message is. Enjoy our present and youth because time goes by quickly, and there is no going back.
- Her excitement in watching the show and doing the podcast, the chemistry between you four…oh, my heart 🥹🫶🏻😭
