BachelorĀ Alum Dies After Battle With Cancer
Bachelor Nation is mourning the loss of Hailey Merkt who passed away on July 26. She was surrounded by those she loved when she left this world. Hailey sadly lost her battle with leukemia.
Hailey’s family went to Instagram to share the news with her followers and friends. They began their post by saying, “It is with broken hearts we share that our beloved Hailey has passed away after a courageous fight for her life. Hailey faced this journey with unimaginable strength, grace, and selflessness. Her determination, courage, and will to live surpassed every timeline the doctors gave her, and she chose to spend her final moments surrounded by loved ones and doing what she cherished most with no regrets.”
The family continued by sharing how full of life she was and shared that she was anything but boring. They went on to say, “Hailey will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her laughter, her love, and her vibrant spirit have left an undeniable mark on our hearts. While we grieve her loss, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will live on in all the lives she touched. Rest in peace, Hailey. š¤”
She Fought Hard Through Her Battle
BachelorĀ alum Hailey Merkt fought hard to beat cancer. In fact, she was in remission not once but twice. Sadly, the aggressive leukemia returned much sooner than anticipated after her last treatment.
After her bone marrow transplant, the doctors felt she had nine months to not even think about it. They were wrong. Six weeks later the cancer was back and rapidly growing.

When she found out time was running out she vowed to live life to the fullest for whatever time she had left. She had a drink on the patio, spent time with her beloved dog Snuggles and did everything she loves.
Bachelor Nation met Hailey during her time on Nick Viall’s season. Unfortunately, her time on the show was short-lived and she went home in week two.
This didn’t stop her from making a lasting impression and forming friendships within Bachelor Nation. Several fellow alums went to the Instagram post to share their condolences and love for Hailey.
The family has opted to keep her GoFundMe open for a little bit longer in case anyone wants to help her family with the remaining costs.
