Scott Peterson, who is serving life in prison for the murder of his wife Laci Peterson and their unborn son, is finally speaking out after 20 years. A new docuseries will sit down with the convicted murderer to talk about his side of the story. Here are the details.

What Does Scott Peterson Have To Say 20 Years Later?

Face To Face With Scott Peterson is Peacock’s new true crime doc. The 51-year-old is breaking his silence about the murder of his wife and unborn child after 20 years.

The first teaser for the docuseries was released on Monday, July 29. In it, director Shareen Anderson asks Scott what his reasoning behind coming forward now is. She asked, “Why should anyone care about what you have to say 20 years later?”

Footage shows Scott Peterson in a prison visiting room, but he doesn’t answer Shareen’s question, not in the teaser trailer anyway. The trailer also shows clips from Scott’s sister-in-law Janey Peterson.

After all this time, Janey still thinks that Scott is innocent. The trailer shows her saying, “I believe my brother-in-law Scott was wrongfully convicted of that murder.”

On top of the discussions with Scott Peterson, the new documentary will also feature interviews with several other people involved in the case. The three-part series will show conversations with the former Modesto Police Department detectives Al Brocchini and Jon Buehler. It will also show interviews with Lara Yeretsian, Scott’s former defense attorney, and Mike Gudgell, the former ABC News Producer.

L.A. Innocence Project Takes On Peterson Trial

The Peacock docuseries will also provide details on the latest developments in the Scott Peterson case. In January, the Los Angeles Innocence Project announced it would be taking on Scott’s case. The nonprofit organization aims to overturn the murder conviction.

Earlier this year, the organization filed four motions in California stating that “new evidence now supports Mr. Peterson’s longstanding claim of innocence.” The Scott Peterson trial was one that captivated the entire nation and an overturned verdict would likely do the same.

Laci Peterson’s stepfather was the first person to report her missing after she seemingly disappeared on Christmas Eve. At the time, Scott claimed that he was out fishing and came back and Laci was gone.

By the following April, the remains of a male fetus surfaced in San Francisco Bay, and then a woman’s body was found as well. This led to Scott’s arrest and, later, the conviction of first-degree murder of Laci Peterson and second-degree murder of the unborn baby, who they’d named Conner. Scott Peterson was sentenced to life in prison in 2004.

His current attorney, Pat Harris, expressed their feelings about the L.A. Innocence Project taking on Scott’s case. “I will confirm that we are thrilled to have the incredibly skilled attorneys at the L.A. Innocence Project and their expertise becoming involved in the efforts to prove Scott’s innocence,” he said.

Face To Face With Scott Peterson will be available to stream on Peacock on August 20.
