Hallmark’s Network First Lead Gay Wedding In Upcoming ‘The Groomsmen’ Trilogy
The highly anticipated Hallmark+ trilogy The Groomsmen includes more than one first for the feel-good network. This trilogy which is the male version of The Wedding Veil, stars Tyler Hynes, Jonathan Bennett, and T.J. Britt. However, the second first is that this movie will include the first gay wedding as the “lead storyline.”

Jonathan Bennett Shares Hallmark Will Have First Gay Wedding In Upcoming Trilogy
Just a couple of weeks ago at the TCA Summer 2024, Hallmark announced its rebranded streaming service along with the trilogy The Groomsmen. This stars Jonathan Bennett, Tyler Hynes, and T.J. Britt. This trilogy was filmed in Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria. However, it was not until this week that Jonathan revealed something special about this upcoming movie.
Speaking to People, the 43-year-old star shared that this is the first Hallmark Gay wedding as a lead storyline! This is historic for the feel-good channel. Bennett, who spoke at the San Diego Comic-Con, shared some information about his character.
Playing the character of Danny in The Groomsmen – not only are we telling a story of friendship, and love, but…telling a story about a wedding.
He explained the importance of this. “This is the first time we had a gay wedding on Hallmark was the lead storyline.” He added, discussing the importance of representation. “And that’s a huge move for the gay community so they can see themselves represented in these stories.”

What Is The Groomsmen About?
So far, there has not been a lot of information revealed about the upcoming Hallmark+ trilogy, The Groomsmen. However, here is what they have shared. Firstly, Jonathan’s character Danny is “an ex-jock with a heart of gold.” Next, Britt portrays Pete as “a kind-hearted pediatrician with a penchant for planning. Lastly, Hynes portrays Jackson. While he is not given any sort of sweet description, he portrays a “stylish and charming social media agent.”
This trilogy is about romance and love. Moreover, it takes place in three countries, Greece, Italy, and Bulgaria. The trio are “of different backgrounds, cultures, and sexual orientation.”
It is expected to become available when the new Hallmark+ launches sometime in mid-September.

Jonathan revealed “We got to shoot my character Danny’s storyline in Greece. And when you put me, Tyler Hynes, and B.J. Britt in Santorini, jumping off cliffs, it’s literally like paradise, and a dream come true because we got to film a gay love story in Santorini for Hallmark Channel.”
Lastly, he revealed that this is everything that they love. “We love destinations, we love friendship, we love romance, and we love Greece.”
